    Group pitching instructions camp

    Group baseball pitching instructions will be offered at the Elizabethtown Sports Complex on 3026 Ring Road for ages 9 through high school. Camps will begin Sunday, January 8 and will continue for four consecutive Sundays of January 15, 22, and 29. Cost is $120 per player or $30 per workout.   • The versatility of Dailliss Cox

    The word versatility describes having many different skills or qualities.  For Sophomore Dailliss Cox, this trait has not gone unnoticed and has made him a key contributor for the Hawks Basketball team this season.

  • Mat Hawks take third

    The LaRue County Mat Hawks traveled to Versailles to compete in the Woodford County Invitational last Thursday, December 29 and took 3rd place overall out of 21 teams.

    The Mat Hawks put five wrestlers in the finals with two winning. Noah Davis and Matt Steven won the tournament at 138lbs and 195lbs each pinning every opponent throughout the tournament. Freshman Tucker Shelton and Seniors Stiles Metcalf and Dawson Bingham fell in the finals to top ranked opponents.

  • Hawks win Gatlinburg tourney

    The LaRue County High School Boys’ Varsity basketball team travelled to Gatlinburg, Tennessee last week and won the Smokey Mountain Classic tournament.

    Last Wednesday, the Hawks opened play against the Lions of Concord Christian High School from Knoxville, Tennessee at the Rocky Top Sports World Complex in Gatlinburg.

  • Lady Hawks finish second in...

    The LaRue County Lady Hawks varsity basketball team went 2-1 and finished second in the R.E. Williams Holiday Classic last week.

    The Lady Hawks got off to a great start after beating the Union County Bravettes 54-47 in the opening round of the tournament on Monday, December 19.

  • Sara Warren has the edge

    Intensity in competition is often sought by athletes and desired by coaches. Coaches sometimes say that athletes have a certain “edge” about them when competing. In other words, those with the “edge about them” have the intensity level expected by coaches, and often envied by their opponents.

    For Junior Lady Hawks Basketball player Sara Warren, “the edge” is just something that becomes natural for her, and is welcomed by her basketball coach.

  • Hawks host Magnolia Bank Classic

    The LaRue County Hawks basketball team will host the Magnolia Bank Holiday Classic December 28-30 at the LaRue County High School gymnasium.

    The 12 game tournament will feature eight teams from around the state. The teams joining the Hawks in the tournament are Daviess County, Highlands, North Bullitt, Hart County, Russell County, Grayson County and Thomas Nelson. The Hawks first game will be against Russell County on December 28 at 6 p.m.

    LaRue Co. 42 vs John Hardin 39 12/19/16

    The freshman Hawks travelled to John Hardin and picked up a win. The Hawks struggled early against John Hardin’s press finding themselves behind 8-1 early in the game.

    The Hawks settled down after that and took a 22-21 lead at the half. The Hawks got outscored 17-12 in the 3rd quarter and were behind by 4 points starting the 4th quarter.

  • Mat Hawks win tsunami duals match

    The LaRue County Mat Hawks varsity team won the tsunami duals at Meade County last Wednesday.

    The Mat Hawks went 9-0 in the two day match as they beat Central Hardin (64-18), Fort Knox (84-0), Meade County (34-32), Corydon (Ind.) Central (75-6), Apollo (48-27), Louisville DeSales (66-9), Louisville Central (59-21), Louisville Eastern (63-15) and Wayne County (39-28). Individual results were not available at the time of publication.

    The Mat Hawks next match is this Thursday as they travel to Versailles to compete in the Woodford County Invitational.

    The Youngstown Ohio Bob Cene Memorial 18u/17u Wood Bat Baseball Tournament is registering Kentucky and Ohio teams at www.youngstownclassb.com or contact Ken Quinn at 330-719-0581.


    Pickleball is being played at 5:30 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays at the Board of Education gym on College Street. Pickleball is free to anyone interested in learning the sport, a combination of tennis and ping-pong. All equipment provided.
