  • Hawks fall to Green in District...

HORSE CAVE – After playing so well to start the fourth quarter, the LaRue County Hawks were left to wonder what might have been had they not dug so big of a hole Friday night.

Second-seeded LaRue County trailed the top-seeded Green County Dragons by 25 late in the third quarter and rallied to within single digits, but the deficit was too great to dig out of in an 85-68 loss in the Boys’ 18th District Tournament title game at Caverna.

  • Lady Hawks are District Champs

HORSE CAVE — The LaRue County Lady Hawks matched history Thursday night as Ivy Brown made history.

The program’s all-time leading scorer poured in a career-high 38 points as the top-seeded Lady Hawks won consecutive Girls’ 18th District Basketball Tournament titles for the first time since 1994-95 with a convincing 78-49 win over the third-seeded Caverna Lady Colonels at the Caverna Sportatorium.

  • DISTRICT BASKETBALL: Hawks on...

HORSE CAVE The LaRue County Hawks felt like they were in great shape at halftime Tuesday night, despite being down five points to the Caverna Colonels.

That’s because the Hawks’ 1-3-1 half-court trap was starting to bother the Colonels, and LaRue County refused to go away despite several unfortunate breaks.

Coach Paul Childress told his team to be patient at halftime, and it paid off in a big way.
