    Mat Hawk senior Raymundo Perez, ranked in the top-five in the state in his weight class, escaped from his DeSales opponent in recent wrestling action. The Mat Hawks missed last weekend’s tournament due to weather.

    The second quarter Friday night at North Bullitt is one the LaRue County Hawks would like to forget. LaRue County was held to two points and let a 13-point lead slip away as the Eagles pulled away for a 79-60 win.

  • WRESTLING: Canter brings...

    The St. Catharine College wrestling team will open its first season next fall. And, while the team will be the new kid on the block in the Mid-South Conference, the Patriot grapplers will not lack in coaching experience, or enthusiasm.
    Orchestrating the new program is head coach Spencer Adams and assistant Gary Canter. Adams is a 2012 graduate of Campbellsville University where he was a 3-time All American and a 3-time Mid-South Conference champion. Canter wrestled collegiately at Edinboro University.

    The LaRue County Middle School Mat Hawks finished fourth this past weekend in the Kentucky District 2 tournament at John Hardin. The top four placers in each weight class move on to next week’s Region 1 tournament at Union County.
    Fifth and sixth placers will serve as alternates in case one of the top-four placers is unable to compete.

    Dalton Bell – 105 pounds
    Griffin Dulak – 152 pounds

  • BASKETBALL: Ivy Brown selected...

    The honors keep coming for LaRue County High School senior Ivy Brown.
    The Lady Hawk, who recently broke the all-time school scoring record in basketball has been nominated to play in the 2014 McDonald’s All American Games. This year’s list boasts players from 44 states and the District of Columbia who have been selected by high school coaches, athletic directors, principals and members of the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Committee.
    Brown is one of seven Kentucky players chosen.

  • WRESTLING: Mat Hawks heading to...

    The LaRue County Mat Hawks ended up in a three-way tie with Doss and Louisville Central for first place at Saturday’s sectional duals.
    Sectionals are a qualifier for the prestigious State Duals tournament sponsored by the Kentucky High School Wrestling Coaches Association.
    The Mat Hawks defeated Louisville DeSales and Doss, but lost to Louisville Central.
    Doss, in turn, beat Louisville Central.
