  • LaRue church league softball...

    The 2017 LaRue County Fall Church League Softball season is in full swing, and once again Bobby Dobson, the Church League Softball Coordinator, continues to be pleasantly surprised by the number of people that continue to sign-up in year four of the league’s existence.

    Last year, there were 86 softball players that represented 19 churches throughout Hart, LaRue, and Hardin counties. Presently, Dobson said the number of softball players has grown to 128 players which was divided up into 10 teams.

  • Cundiff, Hayes compete in FSOS...

    Last week, two LaRue County softball players got the chance to compete in the Future Stars of Sports World Series in Johnson City, Tennessee.

    Kellee Cundiff, a Varsity softball player for the LaRue County Hawks, competed in the 16U division with her travel team, the Livewirez, composed of softball players from LaRue, Meade, Spencer, Hart, Bardstown Bethlehem, Elizabethtown, and Breckenridge County.

    We’ve all heard the saying, “Big things come in small packages.” Well, for the 5-foot senior Lady Hawk Volleyball player Breea Kirkpatrick, making big things happen on the court has been a way of life over the last four seasons.

    Kirkpatrick has been playing volleyball since second grade when she would attend the annual Lady Hawk Volleyball camps.

    LCYSA fall registration

    The LaRue County Youth Soccer Association is currently accepting fall registrations for players ages 2-13.  You may register online anytime at www.laruecountyyouthsoccer.siplay.com.  In-person registrations will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday July 22.  In-person registrations will be held in the Abraham Lincoln Elementary School Cafeteria. See Facebook page or our website at www.laruecountyyouthsoccer.com for more information.

  • 8U All-Star Hawks compete in...

    The 8U All-Star Hawks began State Tournament play on Wednesday, July 12 at the LaRue County Parks and Recreation by hosting the Grayson County All-Stars in the first round of pool play.

    Both teams battled back and forth in a low scoring affair, but the 8U All-Stars finally pulled away from Grayson County winning by a final score of 6-4. Offensively, the Hawks had ten hits led by Nolan Gowen and Gavin Gardner with two hits each. Kobe Cahoe, Cooper Wootton, Creed Price, Kasen McDowell, Hunter Richardson, and Luke Heady had one hit each.

    The 10U All-Star Hawks competed in the West Kentucky State Tournament last week in Elizabethtown and their first opponent on Wednesday, July 12 was the Henderson County All-Stars.
