  • Lady Hawks beat Hart Co.

    The LCHS Lady Hawks varsity basketball team picked up a much needed 65-47 win last Friday against Hart County.

    The Hart County win put the Lady Hawks record at 6-12 on the season and 3-3 in district action.

    Boys JV

    The LCHS Hawks JV team beat Hart County 51-24 last Thursday and they are 3-3 on the season. Their next game is away at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January21 at Green County.

    Scoring from the game against Hart County: Noah Davis 20, Dailliss Cox 9, Kendrick Weather and Isaiah Sublett both had 5 each; Keaton Puckett, Austin Long and Blake Shleton all had 3 points each and Phillip French got 2.

  • Hawks lose two strait district...

    The LCHS boys varsity basketball team lost two district games last week bringing their record to 8-8 on the season and 1-4 in district play.

    The Hawks lost a close 54-46 game to Hart County Raiders last Friday night.

    The game remained close in the first half with the the Radiers leading 15-9 at the end of the first quarter. The Hawks were able to tie the game 22-22 at halftime. In the second half, the Raiders regained a 35-32 lead at the end of the third quarter and they went on to win the game in the fourth quarter with a final score of 54-46.

    Soccer registration

    Youth Soccer Association Spring 2016 registrations are from 10 a.m. to noon on January 23 and 30 at the Abraham Lincoln Elementary School cafeteria. Registrations are for ages 2 to 18 and a birth certificate copy is required.

    Pickleball

    Pickleball is being played at 5:30 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays at the Board of Education gym on College Street. Pickleball is free to anyone interested in learning the sport, a combination of tennis and ping-pong. All equipment provided.

  • Boley gets McDonald’s All-...

    Elizabethtown High School senior Erin Boley, of Hodgenville, was named to the McDonald’s All-American Game, becoming the first area player to receive the honor.

    “It was awesome,” Boley said. “I was pretty nervous, but to see my name on the screen, it was amazing.”

    The McDonald’s All-American Games Selection Show, which aired on ESPNU on Sunday night, announced the teams for the All-Star games. Boley, though, actually saw the complete rosters on the USA Today website 10-15 minutes before the announcements.

  • LCMS Mat Hawks win championship

    The LCMS Mat Hawks travelled to John Hardin High School last Saturday and won the 2016 KSWA District 2 Championship.

    The individual bracketed tournament, which is comprised of eight teams, is the first of three tournaments remaining for the Hawk wrestlers this season. The tournament advances the top 4 placers at each weight to the Region 1 Championship in Cadiz on Saturday, January 23. During the region championship, each wrestler will compete to advance to the KSWA State Championships on Sunday, February 7 at the Louisville Convention Center.

  • Defender of the Mat Champs

    The LaRue County High School wrestling team placed first at Lexington Bryan Station the Defender of the Mat Wrestling tournament last Saturday.

    Head Coach Eric Burrell said it was a really great match for the team.

    “We won our first individual team of the year and were able to get back some of those guys who have been sitting a few weeks due to injury,” Burrell said. “But we had several guys come out due to some damage.”

    The LaRue County Middle School Mat Hawks came in first place last weekend by going 6-0 in the 2016 LaRue County Middle School Wrestling Duals. 10 teams battled for the title in the pool formatted tournament.

  • Hawk above .500 mark

    The LCHS Hawks varsity basketball team are now 8-6 on the season after picking up two wins on the road last week.

    The Hawks beat the Thomas Nelson Generals 76-64 last Saturday.

    The game was close at the start as the Hawks led 21-19 at the end of the first quarter and they extended their lead to 46-32 at the end of the half. The Hawks pulled away from the Generals in the second half as they led 58-41 at the end of the third quarter and finished the game with a final score of 76-64.
