  • 8U Hawks win championship

    After losing both pool play games last Saturday, the 8U Travel Hawks decided that Sunday, June 18 would be a new day. In the first game of single elimination on Sunday, the Hawks won a low scoring affair by beating MoJo by a score of 7-3.

  • 12U Hawks baseball

    The 12U Travel Hawks traveled to Brandenburg this past weekend and came home with a third place finish after falling in the semi-finals of the single elimination tournament on Sunday, June 18.

    Last Saturday, the Hawks fell to the Easton Select by a score of 9-4 in the first game of pool play. The Hawks only managed three hits, Brian Sanchez had a double and Brandon Reed and Tate Wootton had a single each. Grayson White pitched three solid innings only giving up three runs and striking out two batters.

    LaRue County Park and Recreation Board

    The LaRue County Park and Recreation Board meets at 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the Park. For more information, call Brience Willian at 270-735-1763.

    Pickleball LaRue County

    Pickleball is being played at 5:30 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays at the Board of Education gym on College Street. Pickleball is free to anyone interested in learning the sport, a combination of tennis and ping-pong. All equipment provided.

  • 2017 Hawks tennis camp

    The 2017 LaRue County Hawks Tennis Camp was a smashing success this past week as 42 campers invaded the LCHS tennis courts for a week of instruction and lots of fun.

    The camp was held June 5 through June 9 at the LCHS tennis court.

    The campers were divided up into three groups based on the grade of the campers. Kindergarten through first grade had 14 campers, 2nd through 4th grade had 15 campers and 5th through 8th grade had 13 campers.

    The camp was held by LCHS tennis coaches Terry Caven and Allison McDowell.

    Most all of us have heard the expression “Champions are made in the offseason.” In order to improve one must spend time away from practice and the games to hone their skills or stay current in their particular sport.

    Have you ever wondered what takes place with high school programs during the off season? Several LaRue County High School coaches offered some input.

    LCHS Boys Soccer Coach Jimmy Adams stays active with the soccer team and stresses the importance of athletes honing their skills.
