  • Middle school football team...

    The LaRue County Middle School Football team is the only undefeated team in the District, coming off the 2013 District championship.

    Sept. 9 was Eighth-Grade Night with the Hawks taking on Campbellsville, last year’s District runner-up. The Hawks won 12-8.

    The team will host the Nathan McCurry Memorial Bowl Bash on Sept. 20 at LaRue County High School. The event is held to honor McCurry, a well-liked educator and coach who died in 2013.  

    The team played Green County (away game) at 6 p.m. Sept. 16.

  • Confidence gained: Middle...

      The LaRue County Cross Country team hosted a competition Thursday with Fort Knox, Nelson County, Marion County, Hart County, Elizabethtown and Taylor County.

      Elementary, middle and high school competitors ran the two-year old course. The middle and elementary group ran 2,500 meters or 1.5 miles, while the high school participants ran the full 3.1 miles.

    Two weeks ago, the Lady Hawks controlled the game against the visiting North Hardin Lady Trojans as they won 4-0. This past Monday the tables were turned as the Lady Hawks visited North Hardin and came away with a 1-3 loss.

    Senior midfielder Rachel Wolf said the Lady Hawks overlooked their opponent for the first time this season.

    A tale of two halves was the story Friday night as the Hawks hosted rival Green County who were seeking their first win of the season in three tries. The Hawks proceeded to score all their points in the first half while Green County scored their points in the second. Coming off a loss against Spencer County the week before LCHS football wanted to come out and set the tone early.

  • Boys tie Glasgow, fall to Taylor...

    Thursday night the Hawks traveled to Glasgow to take on the 4-2-1 Scotties and came away with a 1-1 tie in a highly competitive contest.

    It was a defensive struggle during the first half as the two evenly matched teams were scoreless at intermission. The Hawks played well moving to open spaces, anticipating ball placement and continued to communicate well with each other.

  • Busy week for volleyball team

     

    The Lady Hawks Volleyball team had a busy week on the court going 2-5, and learning a great deal along the way amidst an up and down week.

    LaRue 1, Taylor 3 (30-28, 22-25, 25-23, 25-22)

    Although the outcome was not in favor of the Lady Hawks the effort was there against a 9-4 Lady Cardinal team. “We fought hard against a good Taylor County team,” said Head Coach Ben Schell.  “The girls started to make smarter decisions in their attacking game.”

    You may have noticed some goings-on at the softball field behind LaRue County High School. Five teams are competing in the new church softball league that’s started play at LaRue County Park and Recreation.

  • FOOTBALL: Hawks fall to Green

    The LaRue County Hawks fell 20-13 Friday to the Green County Dragons.

    Junior running back Marquis Franklin had a 1-yard scoring run and freshman tailback Bryson Cobb added an 8-yarder to stake the Hawks to a 13-0 halftime lead.

  • Cross Country’s Run for the Gold

    The LaRue County High School Cross Country team traveled to the E’town Sports Park Saturday night to participate in the third annual Run for the Gold. This is the second year the Hawks have participated in the event. This was also the first full meet (3.1 miles) of the season.

    Seventeen teams from across the state participated in the high school girls division (133 runners) while 16 teams (162 runners) participated in the high school boys division.
