  • BASKETBALL: Lady Hawks lose to...

    LaRue County’s Lady Hawks fell Dec. 16 to North Hardin’s Lady Trojans, 64-48.

    North maintained the lead throughout the game.

    Freshman guard Presley Brown, who led the Lady Hawks with 17 points, knocked down a 3-pointer before she found senior forward Alyson Yingling for a basket to cut North Hardin’s lead to 31-25 midway through the second quarter.

    That was as close as LaRue County would get, though.

  • BASKETBALL: Hawks outclaw...

    The LaRue County Hawks bounced back from a loss to Elizabethtown on Dec. 15 to defeat Edmonson County 64-70 the following evening.

    Senior guard Micah Wiseman scored 24 points for the homestanding Hawks.

    Sophomore guard Cameron Dawson added 19 points and six assists, while senior forward Caleb Sheffer had 16 points and seven rebounds.

    The Hawks (2-3) trailed by six after the first quarter but outscored the Wildcats, 17-8 in the second to take a three-point lead into halftime.

  • Lindsey named to all-district...

    The Louisville-area All-District football teams were selected last week by the Greater Louisville Football Coaches Association.

    LaRue County’s Koy Lindsey was named to both offense and defense all-district in Class 3-A, District 3.

  • Freshman Ladies fall

    The freshmen Lady Hawks fell 24-35 Dec. 11 to Green County.

    Kristen Boone was the high scorer for LaRue with 13 points. Emma Bell added 7.

    The Lady Hawks struggled with Green County’s size in the post and gave up too many easy baskets off offensive rebounds.

  • Jaggers steps down as football...

    Two seasons ago, Josh Jaggers was voted Class 3-A, District 3 Coach of the Year by his fellow district coaches. On his 33rd birthday, Jaggers was out of a coaching job.

    After a brisk meeting Thursday with LaRue County administrators who he would not name, Jaggers resigned Friday morning and promptly met with the team he had coached for the past three seasons.

    Jaggers said he did have the “full support” of LaRue County High School Principal Kyle Goodlett and Athletic Director David Dawson when it came to running the program.

  • LCMS Mat Hawks travel to...

    The LaRue County Middle School Mat Hawks finished in ninth place out of 16 teams Saturday at the Taylor County Cardinal Duals in Campbellsville.

    The Mat Hawks finshed 1-2 in their opening pool round, with losses to Taylor County (66-18), and narrowly to Shamrock (40-36). The win came against the tournament team comprised of extra wrestlers (54-18). After the opening pool round the Mat Hawks reeled off three straight dual victories against Bardstown (57-18), Scott County (45-30), and McCreary County (66-18).

  • LaRue breaks Hart for district...

    MUNFORDVILLE – The LaRue County Hawks earned their first win of the season Friday with a 60-46 defeat of 18th District foe Hart County.

    Senior guard Micah Wiseman 14 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter and went 10-for-10 from the foul line.

    Wiseman scored the fourth quarter’s first five points. He converted a three-point play after grabbing a missed 3-pointer on one of his game-high 10 rebounds. He then sank two free throws to give LaRue County (1-2, 1-0 district) a 44-34 lead with 7:10 to go.

  • Lady Hawks beat Hart, fall to...

    MUNFORDVILLE — Freshman guard Mallory Williams hit a 3-pointer off an assist from senior forward Alyson Yingling, giving visiting LaRue County a 23-point lead over 18th District rival Hart County in the third quarter Friday night.

    But as the Lady Hawks soon found out, it’s not over until it’s over.

    The Lady Raiders whittled away at the lead, pulling to within eight points in the fourth period, but LaRue County did just enough down the stretch to hold on, 53-44.
