    Youth softball sign ups Sign ups for the LaRue County Youth Softball Fall League will be July 9 and 23 at LaRue County Parks and Recreation for girls U6-U14. LCHS Soccer Boosters to meet LaRue County High School Soccer Booster meetings will be on the second Monday of each month. The next meeting is 6:30 p.m. July 11 in the LCHS cafeteria.     Car show and mud run A fundraiser car show and mud run will be held July 2 at the LaRue County Fairgrounds. The car, truck, tractor and bike show will begin at 10 a.m. The mud run follows at 7 p.m. with several classes. If you would like to show a vehicle or compete in the run, contact Jimbo Skaggs at 270-324-3962 or jamesskaggs16@yahoo.com or visit his Facebook page at Jimbo LCMRA (http://www.facebook.com/JIMBO.LCMRA). There is a $3 admission charge and $30 entry fee for the mud race. It is a trophy event with no payouts.

    Rainchecks honored Saturday at Bluegrass Speedway Saturday’s June Jam at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown was rained out. The event will not be rescheduled. This is the sixth rainout that Bluegrass Speedway has had so far in the 2011 race season. June 25 is the final event that patrons and race teams can use rainchecks from the May 21 rainout event.     LaRue County Park & Recreation pool open The LaRue County Park & Recreation pool is open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. Monthly family pass is $30. Admission is $3 per person for age 12 and older; $1.50 for under age 12. No one under the age of 16 will be admitted without an adult.     Volleyball skills clinic The LaRue County High School volleyball team will be hosting a volleyball skills clinic for girls in grades K-5.  The clinic will be 10 a.m.-noon June 8-9 in the LCHS gym.     American Red Cross Golf Scramble The American Red Cross Golf Scramble is 9 a.m. April 29 at the Elizabethtown Country Club. Bring your own team or be assigned a team. Cost is $50 per person. This includes a continental breakfast, lunch, 18 holes of golf, golf cart, goody bag, prizes and prize money. There is a $10,000 hole-in-one, sponsored by American Mining.
