  • Hawks lose two on the road

    The second quarter Friday night at North Bullitt is one the LaRue County Hawks would like to forget. LaRue County was held to two points and let a 13-point lead slip away as the Eagles pulled away for a 79-60 win.

  • BASKETBALL: Ivy Brown selected for All American Games

    The honors keep coming for LaRue County High School senior Ivy Brown.
    The Lady Hawk, who recently broke the all-time school scoring record in basketball has been nominated to play in the 2014 McDonald’s All American Games. This year’s list boasts players from 44 states and the District of Columbia who have been selected by high school coaches, athletic directors, principals and members of the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Committee.
    Brown is one of seven Kentucky players chosen.

  • WRESTLING: Mat Hawks heading to State Duals

    The LaRue County Mat Hawks ended up in a three-way tie with Doss and Louisville Central for first place at Saturday’s sectional duals.
    Sectionals are a qualifier for the prestigious State Duals tournament sponsored by the Kentucky High School Wrestling Coaches Association.
    The Mat Hawks defeated Louisville DeSales and Doss, but lost to Louisville Central.
    Doss, in turn, beat Louisville Central.

  • WRESTLING: Taylor defeated

    LaRue County’s Mat Hawks defeated Taylor County 56-9 Jan. 15.
    Dawson Bingham (120 pounds), Kyle Edlin (126), Noah Davis (132), Ed Hernandez (182) and Clayton Engle (220) won their matches by pinfall.
    Dalton Bell (113) and Matt Steven (160) won by major decision, 13-5; and 17-6 respectively.

  • BASKETBALL: Micah Wiseman is top-scorer against Sayre

    Junior guard Micah Wiseman led four players in double figures with 18 points as the LaRue County Hawks knocked off Lexington Sayre, 66-46, Saturday in the DMD Classic in Frankfort.
    Wiseman also had seven rebounds for the Hawks. Senior forward Tyler Howell chipped in with 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Senior forward Kody Key-Close scored 13. Junior forward Caleb Sheffer added 11 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Freshman guard Cameron Dawson scored three.

  • BASKETBALL: Lady Hawks fall to Lady Bulldogs

     LaRue County’s Lady Hawks lost a close game Jan. 14 to the John Hardin Lady Bulldogs.

    Despite being short three players and having four foul out, John Hardin did enough damage from beyond the arc to hold off the Lady Hawks, 73-70.

    The Bulldogs made 6-of-12 from beyond the arc in the second half against LaRue County’s 2-3 zone after hitting 3-of-14 in the first half.

    LaRue County junior guard Alexis Brewer had a game-high 27 points.

  • BASKETBALL: Brown breaks scoring record

    Sitting beside her mother as a young girl in elementary school, Ivy Brown watched from the bleachers while star basketball player Tamara Shelton was honored for becoming LaRue County High School’s leading scorer of all time.
