  • Softball: Lady Hawks struggle in opening week

    The LaRue County High School Lady Hawks went 1-2 in the TSOA Tournament at Meade-Olin Park in Brandenburg last weekend.
    The Lady Hawks (1-5) lost to Louisville Male and beat Hancock County in pool play, and fell to Bullitt Central in the tournament.
    LaRue County committed six errors and fell to Bullitt Central, 9-2 in the first round of the tournament.
    Sophomore Kayla Skaggs (1-1) was tagged with the loss. She allowed six hits, six walks and four earned runs in three innings. Skaggs struck out four.

  • SOFTBALL: Lady Hawks fall to Marion, E'town

    LaRue’s Lady Hawks lost two games last week, both by a single point.

    Elizabethtown’s homestanding Lady Panthers rallied for a 6-5 win March 22 after trailing 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning.

    The Lady Hawks (0-2) had won six of the teams' last seven meetings, including both games last year by a combined score of 29-5.

  • Brewer's Tigers compete at Sweet 16 Tournament

    James "Boo" Brewer, former assistant coach at LaRue County, took his Bardstown High School Tigers to the PNC Bank/KHSAA Boys' 16 Sweet 16 tournament in his first year as head coach.

    Brewer’s sons, Jordan Brewer and Anthony Myrks, transferred to Bardstown from LaRue County to play on their dad’s team.

    The Tigers (24-5) lost Thursday in the first round of the tournament.

    “We gave everything we've got,” said Brewer, a graduate of BHS. “The first half, my guys came out a little shell-shocked.”

  • BASEBALL: Hawks gain experience at Bullitt East scrimmage

    The skies were clear but the temperature was chilly at the LaRue County Hawks Baseball scrimmage March 16 with the Bullitt East Chargers. While the final score was not recorded, both teams scored some runs throughout the scrimmage.  While Hawks Head Coach Chris Price was pleased with the competition, he felt his players need to improve in certain areas. 

  • TRACK AND FIELD: Lady Hawks tops in Lincoln Relays

    The homestanding LaRue County High School Lady Hawks’ Track and Field Team won Saturday’s Lincoln Relays competition.
    The boys’ team finished sixth out of 12 teams. Cody Thompson and Blake Heibert won the top two positions in the 400-meter hurdles with Thompson taking first with 1:02.97.
    The 4x100-meter relay team – Austin Shirley, Dylan White, Cody Thompson and Marquis Cobb – won its race.

  • TRACK: Reed, Gatton and Thompson are tops in Ice Hawk meet

    The LaRue County High School Track Team hosted the Ice Hawk Meet Feb. 26.
    Sophomore Amarah Reed had a stellar day, winning both the 800-meter run and 1,600-meter run.
    Senior Robert Gatton won the triple jump (34-feet) and placed second in the long jump (17-10.50) and high jump (5-08).
    Junior Cody Thompson won the 400-meter dash (55.5) and placed third in the 200-meter dash (25.2).
    The boys’ team won their division with 62 points. The Lady Hawks finished third with 36 points.

  • Lady Hawks fall to E'town in region quarterfinal

    LEBANON - The LaRue County Lady Hawks appeared to take one small step
    this season, but it was a giant leap for the program.
    The Lady Hawks saw their record-setting season come to a close Friday
    night as they fell to the Elizabethtown Lady Panthers, 56-44 in the
    Girls' 5th Region Basketball Tournament at Marion County High School's
    Roby Dome in front of a standing-room only crowd.

  • Lady Hawks face E'town in Region quarterfinals

    The LaRue County Lady Hawks are trying to get where the Elizabethtown Lady Panthers have made a habit of going.

    The teams meet tonight at 8 in the Girls’ 5th Region Basketball Tournament semifinals at Marion County High School’s Roby Dome. Elizabethtown has won six region championships, starting with its first in 1981. The Lady Panthers have reached the final 11 times. Meanwhile, LaRue County has never played for the title, going 0-3 all-time in the semifinals.
