  • BASKETBALL: Hawks defeat Green, Campbellsville

    The LaRue County Hawks Basketball Team defeated two Fifth Region rivals last week, beating Campbellsville High School 63-58 and Green County High School 59-44.

    The Hawks improved their record to 9-3 with a 63-58 victory over rival Campbellsville High School Jan. 4.

  • Bryan accepts position as sports correspondent

    Kendrick Bryan has accepted a position as sports correspondent with The LaRue County Herald News.

    He will be covering the Lady Hawks basketball games for the rest of the season and writing sports features.

    He is a substitute teacher for LaRue County Schools and has served as assistant volleyball coach for the Lady Hawks.

    He graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2009 and is working on a degree in school counseling. He serves as executive vice president and student body vice president at WKU.

  • Lady Hawks defeat Edmonson

    LARUE COUNTY 58, EDMONSON COUNTY 41. Freshman guard Ivy Brown scored a team-high 24 points and had seven rebounds, four steals and three assists as the visiting Lady Hawks (11-2) rolled to their eighth straight win.

    Eighth-grade guard Alexis Brewer chipped in with 14 points, four rebounds and three assists, while senior guard Valerie Whitlock had 10 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists.

    LaRue County led 25-23 at the half before outscoring Edmonson County, 21-6 in the third quarter.

  • BASKETBALL: Hawks win National Guard Holiday Classic

    The LaRue County Hawks basketball team won their own National Guard Holiday Classic Dec. 28-30, defeating three very solid teams: Louisville Atherton, Bullitt Central and Barren County.

  • Mat Hawks win Georgia tournament

    The LaRue County High School Mat Hawks traveled to Atlanta, Ga. to compete in a 38-team tournament during Christmas break. When the dust settled, the Mat Hawks claimed a victory over some of the best teams in Georgia, winning the tournament with 241 points.

  • BASKETBALL: Hawks to host Holiday Classic

    The LaRue County Hawks will sponsor the National Guard Holiday Classic Dec. 28-30 at LCHS gym.

    There will be four games each day starting at 3 p.m.

    Teams include LaRue County, Barren County, Atherton, Washington County, Lone Oak, Taylor County, Bullitt Central and Waggener

    LaRue County plays at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and Thursday, time to be arranged.

  • BASKETBALL: Lady Hawks win Classic tournament

    The win against Caverna Friday night was just a warm-up for the Lady Hawks as they beat Allen County-Scottsville, Trigg County, Lone Oak and Caldwell County at the Kentucky Machine and Engineering Christmas Classic last week.

    They beat Caldwell 55-47 at Tuesday morning's tournament. They dominated Allen County-Scottsville 51-37, they bounced past Trigg County 63-40 and won overall against Lone Oak 64-52. 

  • BASKETBALL: Hawks defeat Caverna 97-76

    The LaRue County Hawks came within three points of the century mark Friday night as they defeated the Caverna Colonels 97-76 at Hodgenville.

    Head Coach Paul Childress was extremely pleased with his offense. 

  • Basketball: Lady Hawks defeat Caverna

    Heart pounding, sweat rolling, Lady Hawk guard and forward Ivy Brown made the shot in the last second that tied the game to send the Lady Hawks into overtime against Caverna Friday night.

    The Lady Hawks won 60-54 “with struggles,” according to Coach Travis Wooton after the intense competition between the Lady Hawks and Caverna ended.
