  • Lady Hawks on roll as Brown joins 1,000-point club

    The LaRue County High School Lady Hawks defeated three opponents last week – Barren County, Central Hardin and McLean County.
    Barren bashed
    LaRue defeated Barren County 56-48 Jan. 17.
    The Ladies jumped on top early, taking a 16-9 advantage after the first period and leading 28-18 at halftime.
    The Trojanettes came back in the third period, outscoring LaRue 17-15 to cut the lead to eight at 43-35.
    Sophomore wing Ivy Brown joined the Lady Hawks’ 1,000-point club as the team won their fourth straight.

  • BASKETBALL: Hawks lose to Barren County

     The LaRue County Hawks fell to Barren County 56-66 Jan. 17.

    Hawks Coach Paul Childress called it a “tale of two halves.”

    LaRue played “decent defense in the first half and especially finished strong at the end of the second quarter,” he said.

    The Trojans were down by seven points (28-21) at intermission but, unfortunately for the Hawks, rallied in the second half. They outscored LaRue 22-12 in the third period.

  • BASKETBALL: Lady Hawks defeat Barren County

     The LaRue County High School Lady Hawks defeated Barren County 56-48 Jan. 17.

    Sophomore wing Ivy Brown joined the Lady Hawks' 1,000-point club as the team won their fourth straight.

    Brown finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds and four steals.

    “We are all real proud of Ivy,” said Lady Hawks’ Coach Travis Wootton, who added that three of Brown’s teammates also were in double digits for the game.

    It was the first time this season that four of LaRue’s Ladies were in double figures in the same game.

  • Hawks avenge Adair loss on Hart County

    LaRue County bounced back from one of its worst offensive performances of the season with one of its bests Friday at Hart County.
    Junior guard Kelton Ford led three Hawks in double figures as LaRue County locked up the top seed for next month’s 18th District Tournament with an 88-65 pounding of the Raiders.

  • Lady Hawks hammer Hart, mash Meade

    The Lady Hawks defeated Meade County Tuesday 67-41.
    Junior forward Ivy Brown and freshman guard Alexis Brewer scored 15 points each for the host Lady Hawks, while junior forward Alisha Durbin added 13 points in the win.
    LaRue County snapped its three-game losing streak and ended the Lady Waves’ two-game winning streak. The Lady Hawks also avenged a 55-50 loss to Meade County on Dec. 2 by taking control with defense.

    MUNFORDVILLE — LaRue County sophomore forward Ivy Brown had game highs in points (25) and rebounds (13) on Friday night as the Lady Hawks finally beat 18th District rival Hart County on the host Lady Raiders’ home floor, 53-43.
