After sleepwalking in a loss to Green County, the 16th-ranked LaRue County Lady Hawks are wide awake now.

Senior wing Ivy Brown and the Lady Hawks extended their win streak to four since that last-minute setback to the Lady Dragons, rolling to a 66-20 win Saturday night against the Louisville Assumption Rockets in the nightcap of the five-game Duke’s Valentine Shootout at John Hardin.

All four of LaRue County’s victories since the loss to Green County have come by at least nine points and three have been by 22 points or more.

  • BASKETBALL: Hawks fall to Taylor

The LaRue County Hawks expended so much energy trying to get back in the game against the visiting Taylor County Cardinals on Friday night that when the Hawks finally got close, they had nothing left.

LaRue County cut a 24-point deficit to five late in the third quarter but ran out of gas against one of the 5th Region’s elite teams.

Taylor County went on a 17-2 run in a 5-minute stretch late in the third quarter and early in the fourth quarter to run away from the Hawks for a 71-52 victory.
