     Heading into the 2013 State Dual competition many around the state expected LaRue County to finish as one of the top four teams in Kentucky in the small school division. When the dust settled, the Mat Hawks took home the third-place trophy.

     The visiting Hawks struggled from the arc and the free-throw line, but still managed to pick up a 65-45 win over the Eagles of Louisville Evangel Christian.

    LaRue County was 3-of-19 on 3-pointers and 14-of-30 from the line.

    Senior guard Kelton Ford led the Hawks with 21 points, seven rebounds and four steals, while junior forward Kody Key-Close added 17 points and five steals.

    Senior guard Dustin Coulter chipped in with 10 points and two assists. Junior guard Thomas Harman scored nine points.

     The LaRue County High School Cheerleaders picked up their fourth consecutive Region title Saturday in the first-ever Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s Competitive Cheer Championships at Central Hardin High School.

  • BASKETBALL: Lady Hawks prevail despite poor shooting

     With her usually deft shooting touch apparently no where near Hodgenville on Thursday night, Ivy Brown had to find other ways to torment the visiting Central Hardin Lady Bruins.

    A LaRue County junior forward who has moved to the backcourt in the last two weeks because of an ankle injury to sophomore point guard Alexis Brewer, Brown overcame an 11-for-26 shooting night to score a game-high 32 points as the Lady Hawks pulled away for a 58-37 win over their 5th Region rivals.
