  • DISTRICT TOURNEY: Hawks defeat Caverna in semifinal

     The LaRue County Hawks advanced to the 18th District Championship game with an 8-2 win over the Caverna Colonels Monday night.

  • Athletes compete at State Track Meet

     LaRue County High School Track and Field athletes competed Friday in the Class 2-A state meet at the University of Louisville's Owsley Frazier Cardinal Park.

    The 3,200 relay team – eighth-graders Nichole Thomas and Mariah Wiseman, freshman Kristina Durbin and junior Amarah Reed – finished ninth.

    Alisha Durbin finished 14th in 100-Meter Hurdles and 17th in long jump (14-03.00).

    Junior Jackson Venegas was 16th in the discus (116-06).

  • SOFTBALL: Lady Hawks defeat John Hardin on Senior Night

     The homestanding LaRue County High School Lady Hawks whipped John Hardin’s Lady Bulldogs 13-2 in five innings Thursday.

    In their last home game of the regular season, the Ladies avenged an earlier loss (5-6) to John Hardin and broke a four-game losing streak. The five-inning game was a nice sendoff for the team’s three seniors.

  • TENNIS: Seymour wins two matches at State Tournament

    LaRue County’s Michelle Seymour competed Thursday in the State Tennis Tournament at Shillito Park in Lexington.

    A three-time State qualifier, Seymour, a senior, created a memorable final trip. This one will resonate with her the most, by far.

  • BASEBALL: Hawks defeat Panthers

     The LaRue County senior six cashed in with an early hitting spree and they helped the Hawks put an end to their three-game slide. 

    It was a fitting way to cap their final regular-season home game.

    Seniors Kyle Meredith, Slade Owens, Jesse Johnson and Steven Carpenter connected on four consecutive two-out first-inning hits which led to two runs and propelled the Hawks to a 4-1 victory over the Elizabethtown Panthers on May 15.

  • Kelton Ford makes Kentucky Junior All-Stars

     Kelton “Putt Putt” Ford, a junior point guard for the LaRue County Hawks was invited to try out for the Kentucky Junior All Star team.

    Tryouts were held May 6 at Georgetown College and included some of the top junior basketball players in the state.

    Ford was selected to play with the Kentucky Junior All-Stars who will scrimmage the Kentucky Senior All-Star team in Lexington on June 4 and the Indiana Junior All-Stars on June 15 in Indianapolis.
