  • Lady Hawks advance to region play

    Behind the powerful hitting of senior Kayla McFee, the Green County Lady Dragons spiked their way to their ninth straight district championship.
    McFee had 10 of Green County’s 26 total kills as the Lady Dragons knocked off tournament host LaRue County, 25-10, 25-16 in the 18th District Volleyball Tournament championship Tuesday in Hodgenville.

  • Thompson breaks school record in yards

    Senior halfback Cody Thompson carried the ball 22 times for a school record 354-yards for the Hawks as LaRue County defeated the Elizabethtown Panthers 57-44 Friday.
    Thompson broke Danny Embree’s 1979 record of 312 rushing yards on 25 carries, had 2.5 sacks, returned a fourth-quarter kickoff for a score and scored four more touchdowns as the Hawks clinched a home playoff berth.

  • VOLLEYBALL: Lady Hawks advance in district tourney

    It may have taken them 28 matches to do so, but the LaRue County Lady Hawks have found a rotation they're comfortable in.

    It couldn't have come at a better time after the Lady Hawks struggled to win 10 matches before knocking off Nelson County in their regular-season finale last week.

  • FOOTBALL: Hawks defeat Henry County

    Senior Cody Thompson scored in every quarter, running for three touchdowns and catching another, on Friday night as the surging LaRue County Hawks pulled away from the Henry County Wildcats, 40-21 in both teams’ Class 3-A, District 3 opener.

    Thompson had scoring runs of 33, 9 and 29 in the first three quarters and caught a 6-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Slade Owens in the fourth quarter. Thompson finished with 187 yards on 14 carries as the Hawks won their third consecutive district opener.

  • Abell makes 20 saves against Bethlehem

    When a team plays the fourth-ranked team in the state, a team ranked in the top 50 in the nation, a team that has already won a state championship this season, that team is supposed to lie down and die, accept the mercy rule and go home.
    Somebody forgot to tell the LaRue County Hawks soccer team about proper protocol. The Hawks came for battle and battle to the end they did. If you love soccer, you would have loved this match.

  • Lady Hawks defeat Campbellsville

    The Lady Hawks snapped a three-match losing streak with a defeat of Campbellsville 25-11, 25-14 Thursday. It was their first win at home since Sept. 10.
    “We played very well tonight,” said Coach Ben Schell. “Miranda Hornback and Lauren Meredith led the way with their serving – nine combined aces.”
    Junior Haley Holt had six kills and two blocks.

  • Lady Hawks whip Bullitt Central

    LaRue’s Lady Hawk soccer team battled the Grayson County Lady Cougars to a draw 3-3 on Sept. 14.
    Senior Megan Smith scored twice and Paige Nalley scored one goal in the game. Sophomore Shelbi Brooks had an assist.
    The Ladies defeated Bullitt Central 5-1 on Sept. 21.
    Smith had a hat trick (three goals) as the visiting Lady Hawks snapped a two-game winless streak.
    Brooks and sophomore Abby Modrowski also scored.
    Junior keeper Kasey Wells made two saves.

    Junior Alex Cook kicked a 24-yard field goal with 53 seconds left to lift the LaRue County Hawks to a 17-14 homecoming night win Friday against the Warren East Raiders.
