  • Hawks defeat Cougars 9-0

“Oh, What a Night!”  is an oldie, but goodie song that best describes the jubilation of the LaRue County High School boys soccer team on Aug. 30 as they defeated the Cougars of Bullitt Central, 9-0.

  • Hawks lose to Spencer by 1

LaRue County coach Rodney Armes deemed it probably the most embarrassing loss of his 16-year career.
The Hawks’ special teams’ mental and coaching mistakes cost them and left the team reeling Friday night.
Host Spencer County scored two touchdowns off LaRue County special teams’ mistakes and stopped senior halfback Drew Newberry’s conversion run attempt with 3:58 left to hang on for a 21-20 victory.

  • Hawks defeat Louisville Southern

Usually hard work and determination pays big dividends for any struggling team. For the LaRue County High School boys soccer team, that was not the case.
Five weeks of practice in brutal summer heat gave these young Hawks confidence and a strong, competitive spirit.
During the first game against North Bullitt, aggressive play and youthful mistakes resulted in a 4-0 loss. Take away two free kicks and a penalty kick and the result is a hard-fought contest between two equal combatants.

  • Lady Hawks’ soccer motivated for a better season

Give Becky Hawkins this – the LaRue County Lady Hawks’ coach is honest almost to a fault.
The Lady Hawks went 6-7-4 last season, getting outscored 54-26 and going winless (0-6-2) against 9th District teams.
“Last year our main goal was not to get mercy ruled. That’s how low of a skill level we had,” Hawkins said. “Now our goal is to play a good game and work hard as best we can. Hopefully that hard work will pay off.”
