The Lady Hawks’ season came to an end Tuesday night as they fell 25-12, 25-9 to Central Hardin in the 5th Region Volleyball Tournament quarterfinal match.

The tournament is hosted at Nelson County.

LaRue County (12-21) couldn't contend with Central Hardin's strong serving. The Lady Hawks opened each set with a lead, but the Lady Bruins answered back with runs.

LaRue County led 1-0 in the first set before Central Hardin answered with three straight points and added a 5-0 run a few moments later to jump out to a 9-3 lead.

Senior halfback Cody Thompson carried the ball 22 times for a school record 354-yards for the Hawks as LaRue County defeated the Elizabethtown Panthers 57-44 Friday.
Thompson broke Danny Embree’s 1979 record of 312 rushing yards on 25 carries, had 2.5 sacks, returned a fourth-quarter kickoff for a score and scored four more touchdowns as the Hawks clinched a home playoff berth.

It may have taken them 28 matches to do so, but the LaRue County Lady Hawks have found a rotation they're comfortable in.

It couldn't have come at a better time after the Lady Hawks struggled to win 10 matches before knocking off Nelson County in their regular-season finale last week.

When a team plays the fourth-ranked team in the state, a team ranked in the top 50 in the nation, a team that has already won a state championship this season, that team is supposed to lie down and die, accept the mercy rule and go home.
Somebody forgot to tell the LaRue County Hawks soccer team about proper protocol. The Hawks came for battle and battle to the end they did. If you love soccer, you would have loved this match.
