  • Lady Hawks fall in Region tournament

The LaRue County Lady Hawks entered the 5th Region Volleyball Tournament with nothing to lose, especially considering who their opponent was.

But aside from a few lapses, the Lady Hawks felt they played right with the heavily favored Bardstown Bethlehem Banshees.

Bethlehem advanced with a 25-18, 25-21, 25-17 victory in the quarterfinals Monday night at Bruin Gym, but LaRue County was encouraged with its performance.

  • DISTRICT VOLLEYBALL: LaRue falls to Green

The 18th District still belongs to the Green County Lady Dragons.

Green County (30-7) won its 12th straight district title, including the last nine in a row over LaRue County (14-17).

    18th District Semifinal

    Lady Hawks 4, Hart 3 (4-1 PKs)

The Lady Hawks Soccer team earned a hard-fought victory Thursday night in Lebanon as they outlasted the determined Lady Raiders of Hart County. At the end of regulation the score was tied 3-3. After two five-minute overtimes the score remained tied.

The always entertaining and pressure-packed penalty kicks decided the winner. However, the most exciting part of the game took place with 19 seconds remaining in the game.

  • Hawks fall short of goal

    18th District Semifinal

    LaRue 3, Marion 2

The Hawks got off to a slow start against host Marion County Tuesday partly due to the very wet and soft field conditions, which proved to be an equalizer for both teams. Marion County put two goals on the board before the Hawks got going.

Senior Miguel Martinez scored a key goal for the Hawks which proved to be the jump start needed.

“That was an important goal for our team which seemed to be rather flat from the start,” said Head Coach Derek Bell.

  • Hawks crushed by Panthers, 41-0

Freshman Kane Harris had a big game catching the ball Friday night for LaRue County. Unfortunately for the host Hawks, the guy who caught the second-most passes from LaRue County senior quarterback Caleb Sheffer doesn’t play for the Hawks.

Elizabethtown junior cornerback Dalonza Cates, intercepted three passes from Sheffer, who entered the game second in the area in passing yards, to highlight the Panthers’ 41-0 win in a Class 3-A, District 3 game.
