  • BASKETBALL: Lady Hawks rout Bethlehem

     The Lady Hawks continued their winning streak Jan. 31 with a 60-18 trouncing of Bardstown Bethlehem.

    Junior guard Ivy Brown had a triple-double – 18 points, 12 rebounds and 12 steals - to lead the visiting Lady Hawks. Sophomore guard Alexis Brewer had 26 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals.

    Senior forward Haley Holt had six points. Shalia Winston, Alisha Durbin and Alley Evans added four points each.

    The Lady Hawks play at Green County at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the first game of a girl/boy doubleheader.

  • BASKETBALL: Hawks maul Meade

     The LaRue County Hawks mauled Meade County’s Green Waves Tuesday, 44-29.

    Senior guard Kelton Ford contributed 17 points, five steals and two assists as the homestanding Hawks handed Meade their sixth straight loss.

    Junior forward Kody Key-Close chipped in with 11 points, hitting three-of-six 3-point attempts, while junior guard Thomas Harman and senior guard Dustin Coulter each scored five. Coulter had four rebounds.

    Tyler Howell scored five and had nine rebounds; and Micah Wiseman added two.

    Caleb Sheffer had two assists.

  • Lady Hawks slide past Caverna 47-42

     The Lady Hawks defeated Caverna 47-42 Saturday after Friday’s icy weather caused a game delay.

     The visiting Hawks struggled from the arc and the free-throw line, but still managed to pick up a 65-45 win Jan. 22 over the Eagles of Louisville Evangel Christian.

  • Wrestling coach to be recognized during last home match of career

     Longtime Mat Hawk head coach Gary Canter will coach his last home wrestling match tonight.

  • Mat Hawks take third in state duals

     Heading into the 2013 State Dual competition many around the state expected LaRue County to finish as one of the top four teams in Kentucky in the small school division. When the dust settled, the Mat Hawks took home the third-place trophy.

     The visiting Hawks struggled from the arc and the free-throw line, but still managed to pick up a 65-45 win over the Eagles of Louisville Evangel Christian.

    LaRue County was 3-of-19 on 3-pointers and 14-of-30 from the line.

    Senior guard Kelton Ford led the Hawks with 21 points, seven rebounds and four steals, while junior forward Kody Key-Close added 17 points and five steals.

    Senior guard Dustin Coulter chipped in with 10 points and two assists. Junior guard Thomas Harman scored nine points.

  • Cheerleaders earn trip to State

     The LaRue County High School Cheerleaders picked up their fourth consecutive Region title Saturday in the first-ever Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s Competitive Cheer Championships at Central Hardin High School.
