  • BASKETBALL: Lady Hawks whip Washington

     Junior wing Ivy Brown had 24 points, 10 rebounds, six steals and three assists as the Lady Hawks pulled away from the Washington County Commanderettes after leading by just a point early in the third quarter.

    The homestanding Lady Hawks won 53-45 in the Feb. 12 matchup.

    Sophomore guard Alexis Brewer added 19 points, five rebounds and three assists for LaRue County, which has won four straight and 11-of-12.

    Senior forward Alisha Durbin chipped in with four points, eight rebounds, four steals and two blocks.

    Girls’ youth softball sign-ups

    LaRue County girls’ youth softball will hold sign-ups 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 16 and 23; and 1-3 p.m. Feb. 24, at LaRue County Park and Recreation. No late sign-ups after tryouts are held. For more information, call 270-234-4887.

  • Brown earns 2,000th career point as Lady Hawks roll

    Sophomore guard Alexis Brewer scored 23 points and junior guard Ivy Brown added a double-double Feb. 5 as the visiting Lady Hawks knocked off Nelson County – one of the top teams in the 5th Region.

    The Lady Hawks won, 58-55, despite a 32-26 deficit at halftime.

  • Hawks take out Nelson, Taylor

    The LaRue County Hawks whipped Nelson County Feb. 5, 71-41.

    Senior guard Kelton Ford nearly outscored the homestanding Cardinals by himself, finishing with 34 points as the Hawks won for the fifth time in six games.

    Coach Paul Childress said the team “came out ready to play.”

  • LaRue wins Region, sends 10 wrestlers to State

    LaRue County will send 10 wrestlers to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s State Wrestling Tournament Friday and Saturday.

    The Mat Hawks earned their 13th Region 2 victory last weekend at John Hardin High School.
