  • Coulter steps up as Hart County goes down in first round of District Tournament

MUNFORDVILLE — Kelton “Putt-Putt” Ford’s surge ended Tuesday night, but Dustin Coulter’s recent upswing didn’t.

Facing a 2-2 box defense with a chaser specifically on him, Ford’s couldn’t extend his streak of games with at least 17 points. However, Coulter picked up the slack as the top-seeded LaRue County Hawks pulled away from the fourth-seeded Hart County Raiders, 50-28, in the Boys’ 18th District Basketball Tournament’s opening semifinal at Hart County High School.

  • Lady Hawks contend for District Championship

MUNFORDVILLE — The LaRue County Lady Hawks avoided another letdown at the hands of the Hart County Lady Raiders on Tuesday night by not letting up.

The top-seeded Lady Hawks opened the game with a 15-0 run before cruising by the fourth-seeded Lady Raiders, 54-11, in the opening semifinal of the Girls’ 18th District Basketball Tournament at Hart County High School.

“I think that was the start we were looking for,” said LaRue County star junior wing Ivy Brown. “It was good.”

  • Lady Hawks, Hawks advance in District Tournament

The Lady Hawks advance to district championship after a commanding 54-11 victory Tuesday over Hart County. Ivy Brown outscored Hart on her own with 22 points. Alexis Brewer had 18.

They are also guaranteed a slot in the 5th Region Tournament.

  • Five Mat Hawks medal as Canter closes coaching career

After a bad first day, the LaRue County Mat Hawks bounced back on day two of the Kentucky High School State Tournament in Lexington to finish in the top 10 of the state as they ended the tournament in ninth place overall and having five wrestlers take home state medals.

  • DISTRICT BASKETBALL: Lady Hawks ranked 12th in state

If the LaRue County Lady Hawks need any extra motivation heading into their postseason debut tonight in Munfordville, all they need to do is take a glimpse at their past.

  • District Tournament begins tonight

No team in the history of the Boys’ 18th District Basketball Tournament has won the title five straight times, although history looks it will be made this week at Hart County.

Led by star senior point guard Kelton Ford, the top-seeded and four-time defending champion LaRue County Hawks appear primed to make that history.

  • BASKETBALL: Lady Hawks finish season with a win

Playing in her final home game, LaRue County senior Alisha Durbin posted a double-double with a career-high 20 points and 10 rebounds as the Lady Hawks cruised by the Lady Eagles Friday, 70-24.

Junior wing Ivy Brown added 17 points, eight assists, eight rebounds and four steals for the Lady Hawks.

Sophomore guard Alexis Brewer chipped in with 11 points, eight assists and five steals. Junior post Alley Evans had 11 points, five rebounds and four steals and senior forward Haley Holt had seven points and eight rebounds.

  • BASKETBALL: Hawks on winning streak as they enter district tournament

LaRue County whipped the visiting Washington County Commanders Feb. 12 at Hawk gym.

It was Senior Night, but the JV Hawks took over in the fourth quarter, putting the finishing touches on an 82-30 victory.

  • Mat Hawks have five medalists

LaRue County's Mat Hawks did not have a wrestler in the championship match at Saturday's State Tournament in Lexington.

Three wrestlers fought their way out of the loser's bracket to take third: Raymundo Perez, Caleb Canter and B.J. Carman.

Dylan West and Jared Whitlock took eighth.
