  • BASEBALL: Win over Caverna only bright spot for Hawks

     Senior right-hander Cole Hughes struck out 12 in a complete-game effort March 28 as the visiting Hawks picked up an 18th District win over Caverna, 9-2.

     The visiting Green County High School Lady Dragons jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning March 28 as they handed the Lady Hawks their second straight loss, 14-4.

  • BASEBALL: Hawks defeat Caverna

     LARUE COUNTY 9, CAVERNA 2. Senior right-hander Cole Hughes struck out 12 in a complete-game effort as the visiting Hawks picked up an 18th District win.

    Hughes gave up just one hit, one unearned run and three walks as LaRue County (3-6, 1-0 district) snapped a three-game losing streak.

    Hughes helped himself at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Sophomore Koy Lindsey singled twice and drove in a run, while senior Jordan McGaw had an RBI single.

    LARUE COUNTY 9, CAVERNA 2

  • SOFTBALL: Lady Hawks fall to Green

     GREEN COUNTY 14, LARUE COUNTY 4. The visiting Lady Dragons jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning as they handed the Lady Hawks (3-7, 0-1 18th District) their second straight loss.

    Junior Brigitte Skaggs (3-4) gave up four earned runs, three hits and three walks in 2/3 of an inning.

    Junior Peyton Gardner paced LaRue County at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Sophomore Sierra Mullins went 2-for-3, while freshman Malloy Skaggs had an RBI single.
