  • State Wrestling Tournament Final

    LaRue County High School’s wrestling team finished 41st out of 88 teams in the KHSAA State Wrestling Tournament held Friday and Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

    Union County won the tourney, followed by Campbell County, Trinity, St. Xavier and Woodford County.

    Six Mat Hawks accumulated 20 points in the tournament: eighth-graders Dalton Bell, Noah Davis and Griffin Dulak; sophomore Ed Hernandez; junior Koy Lindsey; and senior Raymundo Perez.

    The team struggled with injuries and vacant weight classes throughout the season.

     LaRue County High School seniors accepted the Homecoming Spirit Stick during the basketball game on Friday. Students compete against other classes for the spirit stick in activities that include dressing up, participating in pep rally games, creating banners to hang during the game and others.

  • Ivy Brown named Player of the Year

     Travis Wootton said there’s no way to measure just how much senior wing Ivy Brown has meant to the LaRue County Lady Hawks this season.

    The Miss Basketball candidate averages a team-best 22.2 points and 12.1 rebounds per game, helping LaRue County to a 19-6 record entering tonight’s game at Campbellsville.

    The 5th Region girls’ coaches recognized how much of an impact Brown has had as she was named the region Player of the Year on the All 5th Region Team.

  • BASKETBALL: Lady Hawks pound Assumption

    After sleepwalking in a loss to Green County, the 16th-ranked LaRue County Lady Hawks are wide awake now.

    Senior wing Ivy Brown and the Lady Hawks extended their win streak to four since that last-minute setback to the Lady Dragons, rolling to a 66-20 win Saturday night against the Louisville Assumption Rockets in the nightcap of the five-game Duke’s Valentine Shootout at John Hardin.

    All four of LaRue County’s victories since the loss to Green County have come by at least nine points and three have been by 22 points or more.
