  • DISTRICT BASKETBALL: Lady Hawks win by 50

      LaRue County coach Travis Wootton and his staff emerged from the locker room just over 4 minutes into the halftime break Monday night at Caverna, much earlier than they usually do.

  • BASKETBALL: Hawks defeat Marion

    Junior forward Caleb Sheffer had 22 points, 10 rebounds and four steals Friday to lead the visiting Hawks (15-12) past the Knights (19-9), 63-60.

    Senior forward Kody Key-Close added 13 points and five rebounds, while junior guard Micah Wiseman had 12 points, three assists and two steals.

    Senior guard Thomas Harman scored seven and senior guard Michael Neal six for LaRue County, which won its second straight.

  • BASKETBALL: No mercy for Lady Jaguars

    The LaRue County Lady Hawks celebrated Senior Night last week, but Friday night was actually the final curtain call for Ivy Brown at Corky Cox Court in Hodgenville.

    The senior forward, one of the most decorated players in school history, went out with a bang in her final home contest.

    Brown poured in 29 points and set a single-game program record with 23 rebounds to lead the Lady Hawks to a 65-53 victory over the Louisville Mercy Jaguars in their final regular-season game.

  • State Wrestling Tournament Final

    LaRue County High School’s wrestling team finished 41st out of 88 teams in the KHSAA State Wrestling Tournament held Friday and Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

    Union County won the tourney, followed by Campbell County, Trinity, St. Xavier and Woodford County.

    Six Mat Hawks accumulated 20 points in the tournament: eighth-graders Dalton Bell, Noah Davis and Griffin Dulak; sophomore Ed Hernandez; junior Koy Lindsey; and senior Raymundo Perez.

    The team struggled with injuries and vacant weight classes throughout the season.
