New Hope man dies in mowing...

A 74-year-old New Hope man died Friday afternoon in a mowing accident when his lawn tractor overturned.

Nelson County Deputy Coroner Brian Papenfuss said the accident occurred about 5 p.m. on Coon Hollow Road.

Marvin S. Saunders was mowing his yard and got too close to a creek on his property, when he lost control of the machine and it rolled over, trapping him upside down beneath it. The deputy said the man apparently died of asphyxiation from the weight of the tractor pressing against his diaphragm. The cause of death was given as trauma.

 United Way of Central Kentucky, nine local financial institutions and several government leaders celebrated May 6 the founding of a new program, Bank On Central Kentucky, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at City Hall in Elizabethtown. 

Sentencing tied to 2011 killing

 A woman accused of receiving property police say was taken from a home where a LaRue County woman was killed in 2011 has pleaded guilty and agreed to testify if called upon.

More voyeurism charges filed...

More charges have been filed against a former Hodgenville man accused of secretly videotaping an underage girl at his home.

James Orley Absher, 50, of Columbia and formerly of Hodgenville and Elizabethtown, was charged in March and December with several counts of promoting a minor in a sexual performance and voyeurism in LaRue County.

He faces nine additional counts of voyeurism in Hardin County.

140 to attend 'Cool School...

School will be exceptionally “cool” at Hodgenville Elementary next week.

HES and Abraham Lincoln Elementary’s family resource centers, with the district’s youth service center, are sponsoring Cool School – five days of learning and experimenting with an emphasis on fun for LaRue County first-through-fifth-grade students.

Dr. Preston joins Hodgenville...

After nearly 20 years of working at Magnolia’s Family Care Center, Dr. Steven Preston is ready for a change.

Preston, who worked at the Mill Road clinic since the mid-1990s, left the practice earlier this month, according to Michelle Murphy, director of marketing and public relations for Hardin Memorial Hospital, owner of the clinic.

But he isn’t going far. He will begin practice at the Hodgenville Clinic with Dr. Glenn Catlett on July 1.
