About seven acres of a cornfield was scorched Sunday afternoon, the latest in a series of field fires that have kept firefighters busy.
The field, owned by Jan and Jane Wright and located on Carter Brothers Road, had been harvested. The fire appeared to have started near the center of the field.
LaRue County Fire Chief Jason Sadler said the volunteer firefighters reached the area quickly, however, the wind caused numerous problems.
“When it changed direction, it came at us in a fury,” he said.
