Cattle internal parasite testing program offered

Internal parasites in cattle can be costly for beef and dairy producers. Heavy infestations result in obvious symptoms such as rough hair coat, poor weight gain, unthriftiness and a condition called bottle jaw. Lower infestation levels are not as obvious, but may still be costing cattle producers’ money through lower performance.

 St. Catherine Academy in New Haven held their 7th annual Fitness Club 5K on May 2. Winners were from left, Jeremy Watkins (8th grade), Colby Stiles (4th), Claire Hicks (8th), Noah Snellen (3rd) and Zachary Culver (6th).

Road named for fire chief

 Kentucky’s 2013 legislative session included memorial designations of several state roads. A section of KY 86 west of Cecilia in Hardin County is being named “Fire Chief Louis Crosier Highway.”

ALES teams up with Artsonia

Abraham Lincoln Elementary School has teamed up with Artsonia, the largest online kid’s art museum.

Pam Glaab, the school’s art teacher, said the site provides the opportunity for students to share their artwork, for parents to be able to view their child’s work, and for others to preview the children’s work online.

Donation to Hope Food Pantry

 In recognition of his 20 year business anniversary, owner/operator Wayne Tyree of Hardee’s/Red Burrito, right, presented a $1,000 check to the Hope Food Pantry. Accepting the donation is Hodgenville United Methodist Church Pastor Bob Howell and Hope Food Pantry Coordinator Susan Phelps. The food pantry serves more than 90 families and 300 individuals monthly in LaRue County
