The LaRue County High School Speech Team traveled to Philadelphia over Memorial Day Weekend to represent LaRue County and Kentucky at the annual National Catholic Forensics League Tournament. Sophomore Brian Anderson advanced to the semifinals in extemporaneous speaking and ended up 11th overall in the nation.

    The 2013 LaRue County Fair is June 14-22 and LaRue county residents are encouraged to enter garden and crop exhibits. Agriculture remains a strong part of our 106th LaRue County Community Fair.

Kelly and Denise Lawless of Hodgenville announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Whitley Lawless, to Caleb Phelps, son of Glenn and Terri Phelps of Hodgenville.

The bride to be is a 2009 graduate of LaRue County High School and a 2013 graduate of Western Kentucky University. She earned a bachelor of science degree in elementary education.

The prospective groom is a 2009 graduate of LaRue County High School and a 2012 graduate of Campbellsville University. He is an associate pastor at South Fork Baptist Church.

Recently my wife and I received a get well card from the Okesons that contained these words: “May you always be … A mind through which Christ thinks; A heart through which Christ loves; A voice through which Christ speaks; A hand through which Christ helps.”
These words describe the “godly life” that Paul speaks of and challenges Timothy to live (2 Timothy 3:10-17).

 LaRue County Fiscal Court, meeting at the courthouse in Hodgenville June 11, heard first reading of the 2013-14 budget ordinance that Judge-executive Tommy Turner termed “debt-free.”

Engstrand takes football helm at...

Chris Engstrand, a 1997 LaRue County High School graduate, has been named head football coach of the Green County High School Dragons.

The 2001 Campbellsville University graduate goes to Green County from Fairdale High School where his Bulldogs posted a 5-16 record during his two-year tenure there.

Prior to that, his Henry County teams amassed a 28-19 record in four seasons (2006-09).
