  • Relay: Williams enjoys status with 'Sponsor of Birthdays'

The LaRue County Relay for Life is May 14 at Hodgenville Elementary School. This is the fourth in a series of cancer survivor stories to bring awareness to this cause.

One of the newest Relay for Life advertisements is “The Sponsor of Birthdays” and Linda Williams is living proof as she just celebrated her 81st with all of her four children and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. But 20 years ago if Linda had not been diligent with knowing her body, future birthdays may not have been. Linda is a colon cancer survivor.

  • Supports Shoffner

I feel compelled to write this letter in support of Bobby Shoffner and his campaign for re-election of sheriff. I cannot say enough good things about Sheriff Shoffner and his deputies. Since 2005 until this past year, I worked for this county in the capacity of a social worker. During that time, one of my job duties was to perform investigations of allegations of child abuse and neglect. Any time the allegations were in the area of the county, I was always free to call any deputy working during that time.

  • Supports Cruse

I feel there are many reasons to elect Mayor Terry Cruse sheriff of LaRue County. He is an experienced lawman with many years of excellent service for LaRue County and more recently, serving as mayor of the City of Hodgenville with the same high level of integrity in that position.

  • Government grabs more power with gun control

Our precious little granddaughter Autumn Rae was amazing Dennis and I this weekend with her ability to read. It was a piece of mail Dennis had received and she pronounced a lot of big words for a first grader and we were beaming with pride at our latest prodigy. But what she was reading sent me into my latest rant.

  • Work Day Success

On behalf of the LaRue County Youth Baseball/Softball Leagues, I would like to thank the community for their support in making our workday at the park a huge success. Thanks to those individuals who took time out of their busy weekend schedule to help us make the park a safer more vibrant place for the children in our community to play.

  • Be an organ donor

If you could save someone’s life, would you? Most of us would, if given the opportunity, which is exactly what choosing to be an organ donor does.

With over 106,000 Americans awaiting a life-saving organ transplant and hundreds of thousands more waiting for a cornea or tissue transplant, consider joining the Kentucky Donor Registry.

  • Relay for Life: Cancer diagnosis turns writer toward God, acceptance

The LaRue County Relay for Life is May 14 at Hodgenville Elementary School. This is the third in a series of cancer survivor stories to bring awareness to this cause.

  • Shopping: The key to a teen's heart

About 17 1/2 years ago, we were blessed with our first grandchild, Austin Lee, affectionately called “Little A.” We thought we had died and gone to Heaven with love over-flowing in our hearts for this dear baby. We have since been blessed with four more grandchildren, Brittney, 16, Brianna, 14, Autumn, 7, and Jonah, 2 and they’re all very dear to our hearts.
