  • COLUMN: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter stakes out the movies

I celebrated my birthday over the weekend.

  • Some things just don't necessarily follow

As I listen to various people and ponder statements made, it seems to me that some things just don't necessarily follow from initial statements.

Take for an example: to help you remember, set up some “memory pegs” or associated ideas. But how in the world will doubling what I am trying to remember going to help me - when remembering is my basic challenge?

Another goofy (to me) proposal:  if it is on the Internet it much be true, accurate, real. Says who else?  Who is the monitor for accuracy?

  • COLUMN: Sawyer Brown still rocking after 31 years

When I told my daughter Amanda that my husband Bud and I were going to a Sawyer Brown concert, she had one question:

  • Red Hill Cemetery is lovely

I would like to take the time to say how proud I am for the lovely way Tim Robertson and his crew keep Red Hill Cemetery.

  • LETTER: Fly the flag every day

A few years ago, Congress passed into law proclaiming June 14 as National Flag Day.

A great many do so in this county today. At one time, this wasn’t so here.

Americans who have lived in a country outside of the good old USA, serving there, not being liked because you are Americans, you know they despise you, yet you do your duty. As you are driving on their roads, you drive by an American installation and you see the old red, white, blue, then you feel very proud to be an American. Then you know why some of us fly the flag every day.

  • LETTER: Learn about industrial hemp

A public forum about industrial hemp will be held 2 p.m. June 16 at the Marion County Agriculture Center.

Is it true that Daniel Boone was wearing hemp underwear under his buckskin clothes?

Is it true that the first Model A Ford had 40 percent hemp on it body frame? And it ran on industrial hemp gas?

Is it true that you can make over 100 items from hemp?

Is it really true that we are importing industrial hemp from 33 countries?

  • COLUMN: Does Pinterest make you feel like a loser?

     Are you on Pinterest?

“What’s that?” you ask. Oh, honey, where have you been?

Pinterest is an online bulletin board/scrap book/wish list site where you “pin” pictures of things you see elsewhere on the Web that you like.

Puppies and kittens and fluffy clouds, cupcakes from Sprinkles in New York, sandals on sale at DSW, the beach at Turks and Caicos.

  • LETTER: Red Hill Cemetery Commission to meet

Monday, July 9 marks one of only two times a year the Red Hill
Cemetery Commission meets to discuss issues concerning the cemetery.
    My concerns are:
