    Younger students may receive laptops
I heard LaRue County High School is replacing their student laptops. First of all, is this true? And secondly, are they available to the public for purchase?

The Laptops of LaRue project was rolled out in October 2010. The intent was for the laptops to be used by LCHS students for four years before they were replaced.

Superintendent Sam Sanders said the district is “already planning the “next four-year cycle.”

I loved the pictures of the mini mall that were in the newspaper recently. These pictures were on page 22A and each picture had a caption beside, or below, with names and what the students were selling.

The one thing that was missing from the collection of pictures was acknowledgement to the company that completed the shirts for the students. Blazin’ Xpressions in Hodgenville did all the shirts for the students to wear at the mini mall.

  • Graduation outdoors? THANK YOU

I don’t know who decided to hold the 2013 LaRue County High School graduation outdoors – but it was a splendid idea.

  • Just Ask - May 15

Is there an ordinance regulating how tall grass can grow within Hodgenville city limits?
Some of the areas are turning into eyesores.

City Clerk MaDonna Hornback said grass can be 10-inches tall before it is considered a nuisance. However, if the lot is two acres or more, the ordinance does not apply.
If you would like a property added to the city’s growing list of  “yards that need to be mowed,” call City Hall at 358-3832.

    Propes is a community treasure
I met Donnie Propes in 1986, while his wife Janet served as the county treasurer. It was easy to tell that they were both God fearing people who loved their community and were willing to do anything for their friends and family.
Janet was taken far too early in life from all of us, as we lost a wonderful lady in our community. But Donnie picked up the pieces and carried on as Janet and God would want him to.

The LaRue County High School Baseball Team would like to express their appreciation and thanks to the area businesses and individuals who made donations toward the costs of the recent trip to Florida for the Fort Walton Beach Bash.

Your support and generosity is appreciated.

    Dear Friends,

  • Hodgenville courtesy appreciated

On April 15, in the strip mall in Hodgenville, I fell flat face forward at a store.

I had a heartwarming experience from the local folks. I was very upset with myself and stated so. The folks calmed me and brought a blanket for me and something to cushion my head. They called the ambulance and there was even a retired nurse there.

This all brought back memories of Hodgenville of the 1930’s and ’40’s.

I want to thank those folks and I am truly humbled by their kindness which will not soon be forgotten.
