  • LETTER: Don't ignore headache pain

     Don’t ignore headache pain

Don’t let headache pain get ignored.

On Feb. 5, I had severe headache pain and didn’t go to work. My head was killing me.

About 12:30 p.m., I was at Dad and Mom’s house and started to lay down on the couch and my right leg gave away with me.

  • LETTER: Baseball fundraiser was successful

     Baseball fundraiser thanks

The LaRue County Hawk Baseball team would like to express their appreciation to the community for their support at the Jan. 19 spaghetti dinner.

We would like to express a special thank you to Coach Beauford Sanders of Campbellsville University, Stevie Delabar of the Toronto Blue Jays, Jody Thurman, The Sweet Shoppe, Save-A-Lot, IGA, Lincoln National Bank, Bank of Buffalo, Magnolia Bank and The LaRue County Herald News.

  • LETTER: Circuit Clerk's office to be open one Saturday each month

Circuit Clerk office to be open one Saturday each month

For the past 12 years, the LaRue County Circuit Clerk’s Office has been open on Saturdays.

When promises are made by elected officials, it is often the reaction of the public to say,  “yea, right – that will never happen.”

  • LETTER: Amber Thurman was a gift to the county

It’s hard to believe a year has passed since we lost LaRue County’s most beloved soul – Amber Thurman. As I think of that smile and that love for her family and Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, I too, still struggle as to why she had to leave this earth. She had a heart of gold and truly cared about everyone.

  • LETTER: Hometown support for local business

Local businessman Greg Grant wrote the following letter after seeing the results of an online poll at www.laruecountyherald.com.

I am shocked that 40 percent of LaRue Countians who responded to a poll on The LaRue County Herald News’ website don’t consider shopping at home first.

  • LETTER: Lincoln would be disappointed

I am Phyllis (Howell) Mcfadden. I am Mitchell Howell’s widow. Mitch grew up in Hodgenville and was happy to tell people he grew up in Abraham Lincoln’s birthplace.

  • LETTER: Help Me Help Others thank you

I want to thank everyone who helped us and hope there is more next year.

  • LETTER: Family says calls were misrepresented

It is nearly impossible to begin to pinpoint the most outrageous claim or offensive remark in Terry Cruse’s letter. In fact I fully intend to let it mostly speak for itself. I believe Mr. Cruse did a far better job of painting the clearest picture of just exactly what kind of man he is than I could do. I am confident that the people of Hodgenville and LaRue County will read it with as heavy a heart as I did and wonder how in the world we could have ever allowed such a person to get elected to any office, much less the office of mayor of our fair city.

  • LETTER: Common sense question

I want to thank Mayor Terry Cruse for proving my points about him so eloquently in last week’s letter to the editor. And, with regard to common sense, I certainly would have had more common sense than to telegraph my intention to racially profile and to instruct my chief of police – in the newspaper – to target the Latino population by threatening them with ICE. My feeling is Chief Johnson is much, much smarter than that.

  • LETTER: Christmas programs were successful

On behalf of the Chamber of Commerce, I would like to thank everyone who helped make the following holiday events a success: Festival of Trees, Christmas Bazaar, Lighting of the Christmas tree and Christmas at Creekfront Park a success. A special thanks to The Lincoln Museum, Hodgenville Woman’s Club and the community.
