As time goes by, I realize more and more just how working together makes the world a better place. I see that every day in this community. With that in mind, I also see what happens when people don’t take action to participate in local events, and would prefer to be critical instead of getting involved.

Facebook, Twitter, television, email, mp3 player, video chat and weather updates are only a few things I can do on my phone. Why? Because it’s smart.
I’m one of the one-out-of-three Americans who have turned to relying on smartphone devices for everyday uses. I use it to keep up with my friends on social sites, communicate via email to family members and work, and my favorite of all, schedule my television to DVR shows automatically (Like American Idol).
I rely on my phone for most everything I do, but sometimes it’s smarter than me.

June is Dairy Month.
It’s a good time to reflect on how times have changed. LaRue County once had dozens of dairy farms. Today, there are four.
Another rarity is the family milk cow. That may evoke thoughts of “Little House on the Prairie” and “Old Bessie” with a bell around her neck. But for many of us, a good milk cow was more than a joke on an old TV show. She contributed to the family’s livelihood and was in some cases, a pet.
