Ruby Brooks, 83
Ruby Brooks, 83, of Hodgenville, died May 2, 2008 at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
She was a homemaker and a member of South Fork Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Brooks; a son, David Brooks; her parents, Ed and Janie Gardner Brown; two sisters, Lillie Robinson and Mary Lee Phillips; and two brothers, William Brown and Walter Brown.
She is survived by a son, Billy Brooks and his wife, Helen of Buffalo; two granddaughters, Janie Brooks of Dry Ridge and Stephanie Brooks of Hodgenville; a grandson, Bobby Brooks and his wife, Sheila of Magnolia; and a brother, James Brown of Hodgenville.
Funeral services were held May 4, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with the Rev. Gordon McDowell officiating. Burial followed in Hammonsville Cemetery.

Colleen Moss Harper, 51
Colleen Moss Harper, 51, of Hodgenville, died May 2, 2008 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
She was a former employee of Nationwide Uniform and Sunrise Manor Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Moss and Mary James McConnell Harper; two sisters, Norma Jean Hutcherson and Betty James VanMeter Nutt; and two brothers, Conrad VanMeter and William McConnell VanMeter.
She is survived by two sisters, Jacqueline Wallace of Munfordville and Melvina Taylor of Boulder, Colo.; her companion, Freddy Carter; her special friends, Katie Carter, Jerry Peace, Robert Peace, Niccole Carter and Kevin Carter; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held May 5, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with the Revs. Gerald Gardner and Carlton Puryear officiating. Cremation will follow.

George Thomas ‘Joe’ Howell, 62
George Thomas “Joe” Howell, 62, formerly of Ft. Knox, passed away April 29, 2008.
He was born June 8, 1945 in Ft. Knox and graduated from LaRue County High School in 1964 and went to the University of Kentucky and Western Kentucky University. He was in the Army during the Vietnam era and was a Vietnam veteran. He taught vocational school for seven years; owned and operated several businesses in Kentucky before moving to Florida. He retired from logging in 2005 and moved to Arizona. His optimism and uplifting personality and stories will be missed and remembered by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Howell; and an infant daughter, Michelle Howell.
He is survived by his soul mate Karen Yastrzab; his mother, Carolyn Howell; a brother, Steven of Louisville; a sister, Alice Ann Jaggers; two sons, George “Tommy” Thomas Jr., and Matthew (Susan); a daughter, Carolyn Elizabeth Acree of Buffalo; seven grandchildren; a niece; nephews; many cousins; and his dog, Nipper.
