The Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Park was closed on Friday, January 19 when the federal government shutdown started. Visitors were greeted by two small signs informing Park goers about the shutdown and how it affected the U.S. National Park Service. Both parks reopened on Tuesday, January 23 when the government shutdown ended.
Shutdown affects Parks

The recent national government shutdown hit close to home for LaRue County as the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Park was closed for three days because of the lapse in federal appropriations.
