Superintendent enters Alford plea

LaRue County School Superintendent Sam Sanders entered an Alford plea Monday in LaRue District Court to a charge of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Through the Alford plea, Sanders maintains his innocence, but admits the prosecution has enough evidence to prove that he is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Special Judge Lisa P. Jones signed off on the plea agreement. The case will be reviewed July 27, as Sanders is appealing the court’s decision in circuit court.
