  • DISTRICT SOFTBALL: Lady Hawks are district runners-up

    The LaRue County Lady Hawks’ backs were against the wall.

    Top-seeded Green County pushed across two runs and had loaded the bases against junior starting pitcher Emillee Cundiff, slicing LaRue County’s four-run lead to two in the bottom of the seventh inning, so Lady Hawks coach Aaron Howell called on senior Brigitte Skaggs to close it out.

    The LaRue County Church of Christ’s food pantry will give away food 9:30 a.m. to noon May 23 and 6-7 p.m. May 28 to those who qualify. The church is located on Old E’town Road, Hodgenville. For more information, call 270-358-9812.

    The ability to remember is a wonderful gift God has given us. Some memories cause us to laugh, while others cause us to weep. Memories are also very practical. If we could not remember that a red light means “stop” we would be in trouble. 

  • Kindergarten Circus fun for one and all

     

    The kindergarten classes of Hodgenville Elementary School put on a show for the entire school Thursday, and later that day for parents. The students dressed up as circus animals and performers — there were lions, horses, clowns, acrobats, and more.

  • LarRue County Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards

     A large crowd attended Thursday’s annual dinner of the LaRue County Chamber of Commerce. The event, held at First Baptist Church of Hodgenville, featured a catered meal, silent auction and several community awards.

     As the LaRue County High School track and field season comes to a close let’s take a look at the success and improvements made this season by both the girls and boys teams.

    Several students qualified for the Class 2-A Kentucky High School Athletic Association State Track Meet Friday at the University of Kentucky.
