  • AU Associates complete project in Lexington

    AU Associates, the Lexington development company that transformed Buffalo Elementary School into Buffalo Apartments, has completed another project.
    The Lexington Herald-Leader reported Monday that the company has finished Parkside, a development in Gardenside built on a 6-acre site that was formerly the Cross Keys YWCA.
    The building was the Cabana Club in the 1960s. It housed Lexington’s only ice skating rink.
    In the 1970s it was The Aquatic Club with pool and putt-putt miniature golf course.

  • Court Briefs

    Sentenced to five years
    Michael Baker (1973) was sentenced to five years and fined $385 Jan. 9 in LaRue Circuit Court. He was found guilty of receiving stolen property (firearm); receiving stolen property under $10,000; complicity of possession of drug paraphernalia; and complicity of possession of marijuana. He was credited for 137 days served. Probation denied. A restitution hearing is set for Feb. 6.

  • Free Legal Aid Clinics held in Louisville

    The Legal Aid Society, 416 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd., Louisville, will hold free legal clinics in February. Each session will be held at that location unless otherwise stated.
    A reservation for each clinic is required. Contact the Legal Aid Society at (502) 584-1254 to make your reservation.

    The LaRue County School Board heard the following personnel recommendations Jan. 17:
    Accepted the recommendation of employment of:
    • Michelle Jones as English Teacher at LaRue County High School
    • Josh Jaggers as Head Football Coach at LCHS
    • Maria Thurman as finance clerk at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School
    • Allison McDowell as girls’ tennis coach at LCHS
    • Tim Littlejohn as 7th grade girls’ assistant basketball coach

  • SeeMyPlate spills the milk about student lunch habits

    A picture is worth a thousand words.
    That’s the idea behind a new program, SeeMyPlate, being introduced for the first time this year in LaRue County Schools.
    “It is a fabulous feature that allows the parents to see their child’s actual lunch tray along with the transaction history,” said DeeAnne Sanders, LaRue County Schools’ coordinator of nutrition.
