  • Child dies after two-vehicle crash

    A child died early Tuesday as a result of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash that occurred Monday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. 31W and KY 84 in Sonora.
    At 3:17 p.m., a GMC Jimmy, driven by Gustavo Salinas, 41, of Louisville, was traveling eastbound on Ky. 84, according to Kentucky State Police spokesman Norman Chaffins. The GMC pulled into the intersection and into the path of a 1993 Peterbilt dump truck that had the right-of-way in the intersection.

  • Slick roads contribute to crash

    Slick roads were a contributing factor in a single vehicle accident last Wednesday.
    Nathaniel Atwell, 18, of Hodgenville was driving a 1995 Ford F-150 “towards town” on Greensburg Street around 6 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a telephone pole, according to Hodgenville City Police Chief Steve Johnson.
    “At that time water was pooling on the roads,” said Johnson.
    LaRue County EMS responded to the scene where Atwell refused treatment and transport.
    Sgt. Marcus Jackson investigated.

  • Buffalo woman pleads guilty to sexual misconduct

    A Buffalo woman, charged last year with second-degree rape and sexual abuse of a child, has pleaded guilty to amended charges in LaRue Circuit Court.
    A LaRue County deputy and Social Services investigated an accusation last April that  Annabelle Carlen Hatcher, 27, of Greensburg Road, had a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old boy.
    Hatcher was charged with three counts of second-degree rape (no force); one count of first-degree sexual abuse; four counts of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor under 16; and being a persistent felony offender.

  • Fiscal Court: Roads, roads, roads

     LaRue County Fiscal Court approved recommendations for resurfacing three county roads at its meeting at the courthouse in Hodgenville Feb. 28.

  • Firefighters busy battling blazes

     LaRue County area firefighters have been busy over the past week battling an outbreak of fires.

  • February Indictments

    Several people were indicted Feb. 20 by a LaRue County grand jury for offenses ranging from rape to welfare fraud.
    They include:
    Ethan Robert Ferguson (1973) of Henderson, was indicted on one count of flagrant non-support and first-degree persistent felony offender.
    He is charged with failing to provide support that resulted in an arrearage of $11,828.80 between December 2010 and February 2012. He is accused also of having been previously convicted of complicity to theft by unlawful taking and flagrant non-support in Hardin County.
