  • Glen Rice concert series continues Aug. 9

    Glen Rice, Family and Friends Musical Concert Series continues its eighth season at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9 at the Hardin County Performing Arts Center.

    The concert is themed “The Legends are Back” with songs from the Beatles and George Jones.

    It will feature Rice, Christy Miller, Roger Conley, Pat Portman, Allen Hilbert and Amber Martin and Brooke Thornsberry; and The Musical Concert Series Band, Freddy Helm, Tony Cook, Ron Benningfield, Mike Ash, Camille Turner, Eddie Black, Rick Durham and David Keene.

  • Pipeline talks here Thursday

    A proposed pipeline that will transport natural gas liquids across Kentucky has met with a great deal of opposition in Nelson County. Residents there have met several times with fiscal court and representatives of Williams and Boardwalk Pipeline Partners LP.

    The company wants to build a 500-mile pipeline from the shale natural gas deposits of Pennsylvania and Ohio to an existing pipeline in Hardinsburg. The proposed pipeline may pass through LaRue County.

  • Lincoln National expands into Nelson County

    Lincoln National Bank celebrated the grand opening of their newest location in Bardstown on Friday, July 26. A large number of LaRue and Nelson county customers, board of directors, employees and well-wishers, gathered to take part in the dedication.

    The 5,304 square foot Bardstown branch is located at 500 Lincoln Way, which boasts the architectural design complimenting the surrounding Historic Bardstown landscape with its tall ceilings and grandeur décor’.

  • More than 50 attend Jaggers reunion

    The annual Jaggers family reunion was June 23, 2013, at Sportsman’s Lake in Hodgenville.

    We were blessed with sunshine, good food, and lots of loving family. Great fellowship was always a blessing in the Kate and Everett Jaggers family. They had seven daughters, Allie, Bertha, Virgie, Sallie, Mary, Iva and Pauline. This family tradition was started many years ago at the request of Kate and Everett.

    They wanted their descendants to stay close. To this day we still carry on this annual event.

    The Dock and Josephine Heath family reunion was July 19, 2013, at South Fork Baptist Church in Hodgenville.

  • Jobless rate falls in county

    Unemployment rates decreased in 32 Kentucky counties between May 2012 and May 2013, while 78 county rates rose and 10 stayed the same, according to the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet. 

    LaRue County’s rate fell from 7.7 percent in May 2012 to 7.5 percent in May 2013. Of a 6,915 civilian labor force, 6,395 people were employed.
