  • Ireland's trial postponed for the holidays

    A local man accused of engaging in organized crime had his sentencing in court postponed so he could allegedly spend time with his family for the holidays.

  • 9-1-1 Chili Cook-off is Saturday

    A 911 chili cook-off event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. this Saturday, November 19 at Hodgenville City Hall.

    Chili is $5 a bowl and the price also includes a drink and dessert. Emergency responders and community members are making their own chili and having it judged at the event. The categories are best (hottest) 911 chili, judges choice and peoples’ choice.

    There will also be pictures with Santa at the event from 4 to 7 p.m. A digital file is $10 and a package of one 8x10 and two 5x7 is $25.

    There is a building that has brought visitors from as far as Shepherdsville and Louisville when it housed Middleton and Marcum Store. Now, the same building brings in visitors from all over the world as part of the Lincoln Museum.

    “Dad, Morgan Marcum, had worked for G.O. Kirkpatrick for a while in his dry goods store as a clerk. G.O. had built the buildings in that corner after a fire,” John Marcum, Morgan and Virginia Marcum’s oldest son, explained.

    Let’s also remember to pray for all the sick and shut-ins, hospitals, nursing homes, institutions, jailhouses, prisons, rehabs, the homeless, families who have lost loved ones, men and women fighting for our country, our law enforcement officers, our country, the violence throughout the country, our president and most of all, pray for one another.

    Mark Allen Casey, 37, of Union City, Tennessee was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, reckless driving, first degree criminal mischief, failure to maintain required insurance and first degree wanton endangerment. He remains lodged in LCDC on bond.

    Troy Lynn Keeling, 43, of Georgetown, Indiana was charged with violation of Kentucky EPO/DVO. He was later released from LCDC on bond.
