    When Tiffany Rucker sells flowers or some other of the hundreds of gifts at Geneva’s Florist and Gift Shop, she’s providing the customer with more than just the item.

    “Whether it’s for a birthday, wedding, prom, or get-well-soon wish, it’s an occasion, an opportunity, for them to cheer someone up and make them feel better,” said Rucker, whose business is located at 106 North Greensburg Street in Hodgenville.

    Sonora Farm Supply, located at 189 Maple Street in Sonora, opened in May of 2011. “We’re passionate about agriculture and we’re a farming family,” said Ashley Gardner, store manager, “Sonora needed a feed store.” The nearest farm supply stores are more than ten miles from Sonora.

    A LaRue County man has flourished with his plumbing business by simply taking care of his customers and providing them with a quality service throughout the years.

    Donnie Hornback of LaRue County created Hornback Plumbing in 2005 after working for Knight’s Mechanical in Elizabethtown for five years as a plumber.

    40 years, 4 months and 4 days……that’s how long David Harrison served as the LaRue County Extension Agent for Agriculture and Natural Resources.  After working in Hardin County for a little over four years, David began working in LaRue County in 1980. 

  • LCMS basketball teams finish seasons

    The LaRue County seventh grade Boys Basketball team played in the finals of the Conference Tournament last Tuesday against TK Stone Middle School.   The Hawks were defeated by TK Stone by a score of 45-36.

    Pickleball is being played at 5:30 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays at the Board of Education gym on College Street. Pickleball is free to anyone interested in learning the sport, a combination of tennis and ping-pong. All equipment provided.

    LaRue County Park and Recreation Board

    The LaRue County Park and Recreation Board meets 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the Park. For more information, call Eric DeVary at 270-358-8386.

  • LCHS Boys JV Results

    The LCHS boys JV team game against Green County was canceled last Thursday because of inclement weather. The LCHS JV Hawks are 3-3 on the season and their next game is at home on Monday, February 1 against Green County at 7 p.m..

  • Ky Soybean Association officer team set

    Members of the Kentucky Soybean Association elected officers for 2016 during the board meeting held in Bowling Green on January 14.

    Jed Clark of Graves County was elected President. Clark grows soybeans, corn, wheat and tobacco. He was elected by his peers to serve on the association board in 2011 and has moved up the ranks in leadership.

    Larry Thomas of Hardin County will serve as vice-president for the upcoming year. Also a board member since 2011, Thomas owns and operates BLT Farms near Elizabethtown.

    The LCHS boys freshman team game against Green County was canceled last Thursday because of inclement weather. The Hawks are now 3-1 on the season and their next game is at home on Thursday, January 28 against John Hardin at 6:30 p.m.
