PREP BASEBALL: Hawks rally past Trojans (05/02/13)

The LaRue County Hawks defeated the North Hardin Trojans 7-6 on May 2.

The Hawks fought off a bases loaded scenario in the bottom of the seventh inning for the win.

Up 7-6, LaRue County freshman reliever Dalton Metcalf’s first pitch sailed over the head of the Trojan batter and Hawks sophomore catcher Koy Lindsey.

But Lindsey quickly recovered the ball and tossed it to Metcalf, who tagged out North Hardin freshman Gardy Sanchez at home plate and end the game.

  • Officer Taulbee to be honored at Tuesday ceremony

A Hodgenville police officer killed in September during a vehicle pursuit will be honored Tuesday during a ceremony for fallen officers at the Department of Criminal Justice Training in Richmond.

Mark A. Taulbee, 43, was killed Sept. 16 while pursuing Jason Avis, 30, of Vine Grove on Ky. 210. According to Kentucky State Police, Avis was a suspect in a domestic disturbance.

During the chase, Taulbee lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons. His cruiser spun clockwise and struck an embankment on the driver’s side before going airborne, police said.

These so called “soft skills” are critical to their future development and success; and research shows that emotional and social development provides the foundation for how we feel about ourselves and how we experience others.

  • Chamber's golf scramble was a success, thanks to community

It was cold and windy, but this year’s golf scramble was a huge success. I am thankful for the many volunteers and businesses that made our annual fundraiser such a success. Thank you to the golfers who made it such a fun and exciting time.

We had 15 teams this year, with two of our teams tying for first and squaring off for a final tee off to win the first place cash prize.
