  • Curtis O'Dell completes 120 miles of walk back home

    On April 26, Curtis O’Dell of Hodgenville drove to Andersonville, Tenn., and caught a ride to his old hometown of Knoxville.
    His purpose? To walk back home.
    It is a distance of about 235 miles. He didn’t quite make it but met some interesting folks along the way.
    The 72-year-old shared the details of his trek:

     LaRue County’s WHAS Crusade for Children collection totaled about $12,500, according to Hodgenville Fire Chief Wally Sparks.

  • Mowing crew reports damage to bushhog

    A mowing crew reported damage to a bushhog May 31 after it allegedly was struck by a minivan driven by Theodore Krueger, 84, of Hodgenville.
    Kenneth Milburn, 37, of Magnolia, the operator of a 2012 John Deere tractor, reported that the collision occurred on Bardstown Road near the intersection with Stone House Loop, according to LaRue County Deputy Brian Smith.
    Smith said the crew had placed signs along the road, warning motorists of the mowing.

  • Casablanca plays at Free Movie Night

    “Here’s looking at you, kid.”
    An Oscar-winning classic is next in the Free Movie Night lineup.
    On Saturday, June 16, Casablanca, starring Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman and Paul Henreid will be shown at the Hodgenville Civic Center.
    The movie begins at 7 p.m. and will be held in conjunction with the Goodtime Cruisers Cruise In on Lincoln Square.

  • PHOTO CONTEST: Send us your best shot

    The LaRue County Herald News is again sponsoring a photo contest this summer. Three categories are offered – nature, landscapes, animals; people; and Lincoln heritage.
    A separate category for youth – those photographers 13 and younger – is being offered. The entry should include the photographer’s age to be considered in this category.
    A sample of winning entries will be published in a special section to be produced in July.  You’ll enjoy all the fame you can stand.
    There is no charge to enter.

    My name is Ashley Scoby, and I will be interning with the paper for ten weeks throughout my summer. I’m currently a student at the University of Kentucky, but I’m originally from Glasgow, Ky., about a 40-minute drive from Hodgenville down 31-E.
