  • Students prepare for a trip that mixes learning, Disney’s magic

    Come Nov. 1, several LaRue County High School students will be going to Disneyworld not only to have a week of fun, but also to take classes while there that are related to their high school subjects of business or technology.

    Jennifer Bernard, who teaches LCHS business and Kelly Sandidge, director of student services, organized the trip during which students will learn about business, technology, marketing, yearbook and science.

  • City accepts epayments for water bills

    The City of Hodgenville now offers the convenience of online payments for water bills.

    The link has been in development for a couple of months by the Kentucky League of Cities.

    Customers should go to www.hodgenville.ky.gov and click on the link at the left that says “online.”

    You’ll be asked to provide your account number (found on your water bill), your name, address and credit card number.

    MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express is accepted.

  • Ag Market Day

    About 200 people attended Ag Market Day last week at the LaRue County Extension office. Ten vendors set up at the farmers market, offering locally produced vegetables, plants, eggs, preserves and honey and a portable chicken coop.

    Volley for the Cure
    The Lady Hawks volleyball team will host the Volley for the Cure on Sept. 5. The freshman team plays at 5:30 p.m. Cancer survivors will be recognized and Mary Jane Stillwell, a breast cancer survivor, will speak immediately after the game. The jayvee and varsity teams play after the recognition.

  • Lady Hawk Volleyball -September 4, 2013

    The LaRue County Lady Hawks went 2-2 on Saturday, losing to Louisville Ballard, 25-18, 31-29 in the silver division semifinals at the First Spike Invitational at the Ohio Valley Volleyball Center in Louisville.

    In pool play, the Lady Hawks beat North Hardin (25-22, 10-25, 15-11) and North Bullitt (no score available) and lost to Jeffersontown (19-25, 25-12, 15-11).

    Senior middle hitter Ivy Brown finished with a team-high 27 kills and six blocks, while senior middle hitter Alley Evans had 26 kills and a team-high four blocks.

  • Lady Hawk Soccer -September 4, 2013

    The LaRue County Lady Hawks soccer team mercy-ruled 5th Region Fort Knox Aug. 28, 10-0.

    Seniors Shelbi Brooks, Peyton Gardner and Sydney Price and freshman Gillian Nunn each had two goals for LaRue.

    Sophomore Nichole Thomas and junior Rachel Wolf also scored for the Ladies.

    Junior keeper Sierra Mullins made one save while junior reserve Harley Keller made five.

  • Hawks fall to Hart, 19-16

    Digging out of a two-score deficit, the homestanding Hart County Raiders scored twice in the final 20 minutes Friday night as they rallied by the LaRue County Hawks, 19-16 in the border rivals’ first meeting since 1998.

  • Hawks beginning to mesh as team

    The LaRue County Soccer Hawks lost their opening game on Aug. 20, 9-1, to district foe Marion County.

    Senior forward Curtis Milby scored the visiting Hawks’ lone goal – and first for the team this season.  Casey Brooks had his first assist for the varsity team.

    Junior goalkeeper Holden Blair had 11 saves.

    Quintin Majors, Miguel Martinez, Chase Watson and Milby also took shots.
