     With holiday supplies already covering the store shelves, Hodgenville individuals, families, churches and groups are working to make Christmas a reality for needy kids around the world by filling shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, hygiene items and notes of encouragement. 

  • Man charged with assault

     A Hodgenville man was charged last week with fourth-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment of a woman.

  • New Haven man sentenced to five years

     Charles Justin Johnson, 25, of New Haven, was sentenced to five years in prison for possession of firearm by convicted felon and five years in prison for two counts of receiving stolen property in Nelson Circuit Court.

  • Home health service sold

    An Owensboro-based home health-care provider has moved into the Hardin County area after acquiring Lincoln Trail Home Health’s licenses.

    Community Home Health Care is one of nine groups that bid on Lincoln Trail Health Department’s home health branch, said Sara Jo Best, health department director.

    Community Home Health ultimately secured the licenses and has been providing its services to the area for about two months, said Terri Mattingly, regional director of sales and marketing.

  • Tickets available for Bardstown Tour of Homes

     The annual Christmas Tour of Homes in Bardstown will be 2-9 p.m. Dec. 7. The tour is sponsored by the Stephen Foster Music Club. 

    Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance at the Bardstown Visitor’s Center, Court Square, beginning Thanksgiving weekend.

  • Burley Co-op Directors announced

    The Burley Co-op completed its annual director election process with all incumbent directors retaining their seats. They were elected by acclamation as a result of no challengers.

    Tim Tarter of Nancy, is the director for District 18 which includes Adair, Casey, Clinton, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell and Wayne Counties. This will be his third term.

    Edward Warren of Richmond is director over District 19. This includes Garrard, Jackson, Laurel, Lincoln, Madison and Rockcastle Counties. This will be his sixth term.
