     The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Kentucky is encouraging landowners, farmers and producers to visit their local NRCS office now to receive information and apply for conservation technical assistance and possible financial funding opportunities.

  • LCMS teacher receives MAC grant

     Barbara Davila, a teacher at LaRue County Middle School, is the recipient of a $300 MAC Grant from McDonald’s Restaurants of Kentuckiana. 

    For the 10th consecutive year, Kentuckiana middle school teachers shared their ideas of how to “Make Activities Count” in the classroom in hopes of receiving one of McDonald’s MAC Grants. The grant program rewards teachers for innovation and creativity in the classroom by providing funding for hands-on learning activities.

  • Denise Skaggs named interim principal

     Denise Skaggs, instructional supervisor and former LaRue County Intermediate School principal, has been named interim principal at LaRue County Middle School, according to Superintendent Sam Sanders.

    She will welcome students back to school after winter break on Jan. 2.

    She takes over from Bob Bright, who resigned effective Dec. 31. Bright, who served as principal since 2010, has accepted a position as CEO/executive director of the National Beta Club. He and his wife, Kay, plan to move to Spartanburg, N.C.
