    Poultry Club
    The 4-H Poultry Club will meet 3:30 p.m. March 14 at the Extension Office.
    Shooting Sports Club to meet in New Haven
    The 4-H Shooting Sports Club will meet 6:30 p.m. March 15 at the New Haven Gun Club.
    Rabbit Club
    The 4-H Rabbit Club will meet 3:30-4:30 p.m. March 15 at the LaRue County Extension Office.

  • Annual Extension Expo this Saturday

    4-H will be well represented this Saturday at the annual Extension Expo held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the high school gym. The 4-H Council is doing a drawing for a free trip to 4-H Camp, valued at $165. Purchase a candy bar for $1 in order to enter your name in the drawing. The drawing will take place at the conclusion of the Expo. Members need not be present during the drawing to be eligible for the prize.

  • Five keys for high-yielding corn this year

    There are five keys to high corn yields: Good genetics; maximize days suitable for growing; achieve 90 to 95 percent light interception at or close to silking;  adequate nutrients to complete plant growth and seed fill; and adequate water and air to complete plant growth and seed fill. By optimizing each of these five keys, the odds for producing high corn yields are much improved.

  • Former employee files suit against Signature HealthCare

    A former employee of Sunrise Manor Nursing Home has filed a civil suit in LaRue Circuit Court against Signature HealthCare.
    Diane Roberts, who was employed at the facility for 34 years, according to the suit, claims she was promised that she would be retained as director of nursing after the nursing home was leased to Signature HealthCare. She claims she worked as director of nursing since 2005, and further, that she was terminated without prior notice.

  • Three injured in crash outside Buffalo

    A two-vehicle crash on Greensburg Road left three people injured Friday afternoon.
    According to Sheriff’s Deputy Russell McCoy, Joe Milby, 40, of Greensburg, was traveling westbound near the 2500 block of Greensburg Road when he lost control of the Ford pickup he was test-driving from Hutcherson Auto Sales.
    The truck struck a 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette driven by Melinda Howell, 62, of Greensburg Road, in the right side.
    The pickup then flipped several times and landed on its top according to McCoy.

  • Campbellsville University holding cheerleader tryouts

    The Mid-South Conference champion Campbellsville University cheerleaders will hold tryouts April 21.
    The Tiger cheerleaders have won four of the past six MSC titles and also claimed the all-girl and mixed stunt routines at the MSC Cheer competition.
    Tryouts will be held on campus in the Powell Athletic Center. The gym will open at 10 a.m. for warm-ups and tryouts will begin at 10:30. If someone cannot attend the tryout date, they will need to contact Cheer
