  • Aliens land in LaRue?
  • Whelan is National Merit semi-finalist

    A LaRue County High School senior, Evelyn Whelan, has been notified that she is a National Merit semi-finalist, the first student to earn the honor in the last several years at the school.

    The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter the program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test which serves as an initial screen of about 1.5 million entrants each year.

  • Woman charged with assaulting clerk

    A Hodgenville woman has been charged with fourth-degree assault of Hodgenville City Clerk MaDonna Hornback.

    Donna J. Rodehaver, 61, allegedly struck Hornback Aug. 28, on the back above the left shoulder, “leaving a red mark,” according to the citation. The incident allegedly occurred about 8 p.m. at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home, 717 N. Lincoln Blvd., Hodgenville.

  • Church of Christ to distribute free food

    A change has been made in the local food assistance program.

    One agency will distribute U.S. Department of Agriculture commodities in LaRue County.

    Families will get their food from LaRue County Church of Christ, 1136 Old Elizabethtown Road, Hodgenville. The food bank is open 8 a.m.-noon the fourth Friday of every month and 6-7 p.m. the fourth Wednesday evening.

  • Old Sunrise to sell

    After two years of sitting vacant, the old Sunrise Manor Nursing Home will be sold.

    According to Rondal Wright, chairman of LaRue County Geriatric Center Board of Directors, the Phillips Lane facility will be auctioned Saturday, Nov. 16.

    Jimmie Lee of Lee Realty in Magnolia has been hired to dispose of the real estate and remainder of furniture. The sale will begin at 10 a.m. It will be an absolute auction.
